Reet, so you've used very inclusive criteria (I mean, Moa?!) to produce a long list. Mike Burnett btw. But anyway, Tyson Wilson has only played first team once for Hull (did Jack Briscoe ever play?). King and a couple of others have retired. The inclusion of Abdull means that I can include players that were in other teams' systems first. Lineham (and maybe Shaul?) came into your system a bit older.

I won't count Welham as he made his debut in 2006

As I said before, 6 to 8 'making it' would be my assessment over Rovers' time in SL, which is 8 years now. That's not really enough, and we need to be getting that up by 50 or even 100% to have any real chance of progressing.
My rough realistic count for the same period at Hull is about 10. Better, but not by much - and you had a rolling start. I don't think it's any coincidence that your rate of production dropped when we started competing for young players. 16 to 18 at one club would be pretty good. Even with a few departures, enough to provide a strong foundation for a squad.

Maybe the list should be someone who's played at least 10 games? Lineham was at York first I believe and as for using Moa well that's desperation and I'm pretty sure the Hornes, Cooke, Radford etc were playing slightly before we got in super league lol

Only played SL for Hull FC, we raised him, brought him to the world of SL, yes we didnt get a fee for him, but what did he cost you?

cooke cost us about as much as mcdonnel cost you I think we got the better deal he did the business in his first season when it mattered

Cooke was also the catylist and the probably the difference that kept us in Super League, so worth every penny.

The last few pages are a sad reflection on both clubs youth policies in the not too distant past. Fortunately, both clubs seem to be on a road to recovery.

Hull have suffered from years of under-investment in their youth and the board not really giving a damn. We only did 'well' prior to that due to Rovers not in direct competition, and us reaping the benefits of the city being a hot-bed without us having to do much.

The last real crop to come through was the Houghton, Washbrook, Wheeldon, Hall, Lee etc crop - who some, despite maybe coming through after 2007 when Rovers were promoted, were still a legacy of our monopoly in the city.

Rovers may as well write off pre-2007. It's pretty much irrelevant to this 'debate' as the funds simply wouldn;t have been there, and prmotion was the ultimate goal. Like Hull, in those years following promotion, youth wasn't at the top of the priorities list.

Things are changing though. Both sides seem to have a sprinkling of players that have come through their youth setups established in their first team, as well as a number of promising yougsters getting the odd game with a view to bringing them on slowly.
