| They're shizzle.
Neither soul or anything else and Cook's hatred of Hull means they deserve nothing but contempt.

| I saw Paul Weller on expenses in a converted church hall in Amsterdam 1998 total value for money, worst I've got to say was Black Sabbath at the Ally Pally 1974 - they were eaten alive by their warm up band Stackridge who were sensational

| Well I came on this board to chuckle at some of the meltdowns & spats but saw this instead.
Entertainment wise, The Stones have to be up there for me.
Musical Quality, I saw Bjork at Sheffield Arena a good few years ago, with just three old guys playing some Hurdy Gurdy’s or something, but it was amazing.
Worst by far, I promised to take my daughter who was about ten at the time, to the M.E.N. to see Avril Lavigne, God Awful.
But the biggest regret has to be, never seeing Zeppelin.
The sad thing for me now is, I no longer attend any concerts. I’m getting too old to be physically assaulted in the pit & too angry to stand behind someone filming it on a phone, as for sitting down I'd rather die.

You won't really get meltdowns and spats on here Squire because most of us who post go to games and have had to endure how awul we are all year.

| The best I've seen
The Clash, London Finsbury Park, RAR, 78 ish
The Ramones, Leeds uni 78
Sex Pistols, SPOTS tour, Aug bank holiday Scarborough, 77
Stiff little fingers, Leeds poly, the scariest yet most intense exciting atmosphere I've ever seen at a gig.
And my last, Rolling Stones, Glastonbury, 2012? I hate the Stones with a passion but my mates love em so just went along. What a ing voice Jagger has for an old guy! It was pi$$ing it down, and for the first 45 mins I was thinking, "I'm right they're cr@p". They then went into a best of hour, the hairs were up on the back of my neck, incredible set by a band I despised, strange innit?

Saw them there in 2013, it was a brilliant gig. Just bagged tickets for later this month when they are coming back to Brid again. Possibly my favourite mid-sized venue.

| Best was the first top act I saw. 15 years old just started work & a collegue was lead singer in a locall band, got asked to help with thier gear as it had to be lugged to the top of the Co Op in town (Skyline ballroom) Top act Jimi Hendrix, even met him after the show & got his autograph, Wish I could find it now. I dont recall but I would ave seen robert Plamer as well that night (with the mandrakes).
Worst Billy J Kramer at a do in Walkington he was awfull but saw him a a show thirty years later & he had learned a bit by then & was great.

That place brings back some memories though it was called Baileys and then Romeos by the time I was frequenting them almost every weekend.
They actually had some decent well known bands on in there during the seventies and early eighties.
I also remember seeing the glitter band, haha, perform at another well know disco in Hull at the time..... Tiffany's, later known as LA.
Best bands on my travels would have to be... The Sweet, Queen, and Slade, all during the seventies and eighties, the former almost deafening me with their loud music, Slade have to be one of the loudest bands I've personally ever listened to live.
I cant really think of a bad one, unless I include one or two lesser known bands that sometimes played in East park during the festivals they had a few years back.
One of my regrets in life is not seeing Bowie live, during the time he played with Hulls brilliant guitarist ...Mick Ronson (spiders from Mars) even though I was still a teenager at the time, Good days.

| Seventies Red - Reading your post reminded me of a concert I went to in 1973 at the Top Rank Suite in Doncaster where I saw The Sweet. I was just getting into Soul music at the time, but the girl I was with that night was into Glam Rock, especially T Rex.
Have to say, The Sweet just blew me away. Excellent oestrogenic atmosphere and outstanding live performers from the opening chords, spoilt only by a fag burn on my crushed velvet purple flares. Happy days.

Yes they were very good live weren't they! probably the best tight vocal harmony group around at the time and what a great drummer they had in Mick Tucker, the man with the golden arms
Although they were initially known for their glam rock they were in fact more into hard rock as shown in their later music albums or on the B sides of their hit singles, strangely enough both the sweet and Queen sounded very similar vocally though the sweet were the first on the scene.
Who could forget glam songs like Blockbuster, Teenage rampage and little Willy eh, incidentally they sold more than 50 million records during their time which was quite an achievement even then.
Also T Rex, how could I forget to mention them, they were another fantastic band though unfortunately I never got to see them live, more the pity.

| Music Guilty Pleasure...going to see Status Quo most years, usually a good night, nothing groundbreaking but loud and proud. As for the Beatles, their music will be remembered far longer than a lot of the stuff they inspired. Mainly because of what they represented, almost a fresh start. The youth of the day coming into their own not shackled by the mores and conventions of the previous generation who had the memories of the Second World War hanging over them.

Really? .....You do realise that The Beatles were writing their own songs and producing timeless classics that are still loved today when the Stones were just banging out cover versions?
