Great player but we haven't missed him while he's been out have we? Rhys lovgrove offers just as much, him, ferguson and mika for second row next season will do.

Joel Moon did that to us last year. Homesick, released on compassionate grounds, signs for Leeds. It really sticks in fans throats things like this, so for your sake I hope he does return to Oz. On the other hand, as a Salford fan, I'd love to see him play for us!

Why do these overseas players bother to come homesick after 1 year, taking the pxxs,he has signed a contract make him see it out in my opinion, if he is allowed to go home retain his registration until he gets home and an NRL club comes in for him and negotiations take place. But I bet if he gets a clearance here he goes to another superleague club. He wasn't getting first team football at the cowboys and as far as I know no other NRL club wanted him,if I am wrong I will stand correcting.Our clubs are too soft with the overseas players,if it happenned in Australia he would sit it out until his contract was up.

If he our his family are homesick whats the point of keeping him against his will? it's a massive step moving to the other side of the world with your family if they can't settle they can't settle.

I'd imagine Hudgell will ensure that if it's a lie about homesickness and he moves to another super league club kr will be compensated.

Did you get a fee? Can you retain a players SL registration, while effectively loaning them out to a club in Oz for the remainder of their contract, to avoid that sort of shenanigans?

From our POV:

11. Ferguson 12. Lovegrove 13. Mika 15. Horne 20. Cox, for example would look perfectly adequate, with Esslemont and/or Hepi pushing for a place, ideally. If we got Fakir as well, that would be good depth.

I said it before and got shot down but I don't think he's all that people make him out to be, looks the part and plays good against the weaker teams but I still see a lazy side to him. Don't think he'll be overly hard to replace. I'd have been far more disappointed to lose Lovegrove.

Face it, KR are a sinking ship. Once Hudgell and your best players depart, and once the RFL confirm the proposed changes and kick-start the promotion/relegation campaign again from 2015, you'll all be watching Championship rugby again where you belong.

I agree with the lazy side, also prone to giving very stupid needless penalties away. Like at cats, it's alright standing your ground at marker, but why lean in to the man so much so that he can't get up ffs!

I would be amazed if we didn't get a written agreement that due to him having a year left which we are happy waive that we keep his UK registration for 12 months to stop that happening.

I agree with Barham Red regards my namesake with ball in hand a delight,but not really interested in defending apart from cutting corners.I think if we could get Ferguson and Fakir in as replacements we would be far more solid defensively,and just leave the flair to our halves and backs.

Paterson is far from irreplaceable IMO. He's a very talented player and an undoubted threat with ball in hand. However, in his absence, Lovegrove performed better in LSR than Paterson has all season, he was unstoppable. Couple that with the invigorated Con Mika, George Griffin, Jordan Cox who is starting to live up to expectations, what seems to be a done deal in Dale Ferguson and anyone else targeted, I don't think losing Paterson (and the wages he will be on) is a disaster by any means.

Good post, not sure about Fakir off to be honest, good forward but has had a few injuries of late. We did,nt do too bad in cory,s absence and as for dobbo...well I don't have a problem if he wants a another crack in the Nrl but it tells you something that a promising hotshot scrumhalf has joined the dullers from the nrl. If back to oz isn't an option then I think the club should do all it can to get dobbo signed up. Fingers crossed

Well its in your hands to make sure he doesn't. Much as I love banter between the two sets of fans, when you get someone new posting garbage its really annoying to both sides.

Paterson suffered from depression in 2009/2010... Mentally he is not strong and if he has any sense of being homesick he would do something about it.

If Rovers can get the man they want to replace Patterson it is a big step up hard as that may seem to believe...and would easily explain why they passed on Ferguson.
