We worked the ruck over to much IMO and failed to gain any advantage, noticed it alot at the start of this season.

The one thing that will stop him being a top hooker is his inability to play a pass without having to get upright first. It means a slow pass out. Cunningham is a master at it and hence he is a great hooker. His scoot and ability are not in question, maybe he can train this into his game and make this position his own.

I see what your saying, you can tell the distribution speed when he has interchanged with Fisher but Murrell has been training in this position for what I would imagine all of pre-season and maybe he just aint going to get that natural speed as others.

He's not going to be one of the best in the competition i'm afraid although there was a significant improvement last night.

Not sure how you can actually rate Berrigan so highly on his form in SL, or are you just looking on the 4 games he has played this season?

berrigan is far and away a better player than murell......dont get me wrong berrigans form at fc has been patchy but he has usually been played out of position or playing with a niggling injury etc..wereas murrell is playing his best footy and still isnt in the same class as berrigan

Been played out of position? not from what I have seen, probably played at least 95% in this country at hooker. His overall performance in ESL so far is so very average!

Berrigan has played 48 SL games for Hull FC. For your statement to be correct, he has played only 2 games out of position. He has played centre, second row, LF, scrum half and hooker whilst at the club. He covered Adam Dykes at SH in 2008, Dykes missing 14 rounds. He had to fill in at SH (with Lee/Houghton at hooker) in 2009 because Thorman was so poor - Thorman played in all but 6 games but several were off the bench. You're way off the mark on this one. I'm not disputing that Berrigan's performances thus far have fallen short of expectations, but to suggest playing out of position at scrum half is not a key factor in this is lunacy.

Scott is not our #1 hooker at the moment that is Fisher & I expect Hodgson to replace him in the next season (I think Fisher will go as the overseas quota drops). Scott is good at what he is asked to do & that is fill in for 30 minutes then Fisher comes on fresh & exploits a hopefully tired side. He is steady at hooker but not great, his real asset is his ability to fill other key positions for us after his first stint at 9 that gives Justine numerous option with his bench. After all it is a team game.
