How much/little do you think international players are on?

I have no doubt that's a typical wage for a decent player. I just think for that amount we could hang on to Webster AND pay Salter to fill in when he's laid up (which would be most of the time).

Im a fan of Webster but Im sure we would get more game time out of Shenton and both players offer similar attributes.

What about this scenario:

Webster on 50k a year or Shenton on 100k a year?

Given that in 3 years time, I would hope that Salter and Heil are the starting centres, we need someone to spell these guys over the next 2 seasons and Webster playing 50-70% of games would be my preferred choice over Shenton at that price.

If we could get him for 70k it might be different, but he won't come for that.

If they both want similar deals, its a no brainer, however, see my above post.

Its possible that if Saints want him off their books they may have to pay him off or pay part of his wages for the remainder of his contract at another club, if thats the case then Shenton would possibly agree to a lower wage. Just an idea.

I've been told Shenton is looking for a 3yr deal.

From what I can gather Rovers Board aren't prepared to overly commit themselves at the moment beyond the current franchise period so this could be problematic.

I've also been told Jake wants to stay at Rovers and is willing to consider a one year plus one option.

Personally, I would like Jake to stay in the hope all of his injury problems are now behind him (I said this about Chev lol), and I would definitely try and get Shenton. I know this might sound like the unthinkable, but I would like to see Webbo and Shenton in the centres and push Kris Welham to full back or wing or (dare I say it) let him go.

So they don't want to commit but signed Kris Welham up on a contract to 2015

tbf, he did say [ioverly[/i commit. There have been some hints regarding Rovers trying to get our house in order ready to 'hand the club on to the next generation'.
But having 25 players ooc at the end of 2014 would be creating problems not options, clearly.

I favour the "laugh" option. There can be no other reason to give him a contract.

As I have said before I think he would be a good signing for any club but 120k a year does seem on the high side.

Nobody will be paying £120k pa for Shenton, he has year left on his deal and it looks like it's Saints that want rid. So, the most likely scenario is that he agrees severance for his last year, paid after November(for cap reasons) deduct that amount from £120k and you're probably looking at £70k - £80k.
The quota/Non-Fed regulations are filtering out the overseas players and I don't see more than 3 or 4 better English centres.

That's shocking, none of them have performed as good in an England shirt at any point as Shenton did in that series. Which proves the talent is there. He's had an injury disrupted spell at Saints. I don't particularly want him at Hull, but this isn't the Hull board, is it?

You named 9 centres you would pick over Shenton. Given the fact Hull have declared an interest I therefore said you would hope Hull's interest comes to nowt. Sorry, but I am struggling to understand why you had to ask
