I love the stone roses and saw them at heaton park but they did only do one good album really . The Shane Meadows documentary film is excellent

I could name at least 10 bands better than the Beatles the most overrated band on the planet

Best Texas at Sheffield. Worst Tina turner at don valley. Me and the brother in law spent the entire gig at the back drinking.
On the side my daughter saw the pussycat dolls and said they were crap but the warmup act was pretty good. It turned out to be lady Gaga.

I was in an Estate Agent up here in Pickering when this guy came in enquiring about this building plot for sale in the North York Moors National Park. Turns out it was Biff Byford, the lead singer of Saxon, according to the lady in the office who was a huge fan.

Best gigs Dandy Warhols at Manchester uni,
THe charlatans back in 95 at Hull uni and then the emotional comeback after Rob Collins died when they supported oasis at Knebworth 96.
Worst gig was the manics on the same bill, truly awful.

I love the stone roses but they are awful live.
Biggest regret not going to see the smiths in 85 / 86 and going round town instead, what a tool I was.

The Smiths played at Hull University in 1984 when they was on the cusp of a breakthrough, our kid went but I wasn't that interested. What a buffoon!! Morrissey described Hull as a beautiful town! I saw Johnny Marr on a train to Hull 4/5 years ago. Yes it's true! I spoke to him about music and things and he was an absolute top bloke, I'll never forget it.

The Smiths - Great band but not The Beatles.

Also, I met Danny Wilde before a gig in Scarborough a few weeks ago and he was a really pleasant bloke as well. Big star but so down to earth. A legend.

The Smiths are the most influential band of our era, certainly changed the way i looked at music. Saw JM playing with THE THE just after the smiths split, saw him with the pretenders and the healers too. Always a bigger Marr fan than Morrissey.

Strange really because I saw Squire with the seahorses, Ryder with Black grape and Hook with Monaco but never saw the Roses, Mondays or New order.

Some of the Beatles more out there stuff was good but generally a bit too poppy for me.
