Maybe Welham to fb?

Justin Morgan wanted to move Welham to full back but he told him he didnt want to play there. Personally i think he would make an excellent full back.

I don't think Welham reads the game well enough or has about him to organise the defence to play full back, and that's before we get to his one on one tackling.

He should have no choice in where he plays. If a coach asks you to play somewhere then you should put your hand up and do it. For a start he should be on the wing next week as a wake up call and then gradually interchanged with Mcdonnell throughout the season with Sherriff getting some opportunities on the wing and full back aswell.
Lets face it the best we can hope for this year is a fight for 8th place and get knocked out in the first round of the play offs. (unless Hull clinch 5th obviously).
I said this last season and i will say it again this, i would much rather see us spend the rest of this year blooding youngsters so that they are ready to really go for it next year and maybe also experiment a bit positionally.

The only thing with Webb is he turns 33 before next year. I'm not sure about his temperament - realistically, he'd be likely have more opportunities to sulk with us than he's had at Leeds. Talented, mind.

This year may be a little early for Sheriff, but he's 20 in September (wiki says), so if he is going to make the breakthrough at all, you'd assume it wouldn't be too far away. His bad injury has maybe put him back a bit, tbf.

The more I look at it, we either get another similar player from the fringes in Aus or go with Sheriff Hall/Welham/Hodgson covering. There's not much in SL, and with Salford, Hull, and maybe Leeds looking, we'll have a better chance of strengthening elsewhere in the team.

While McDonnell remains at Rovers, supporters should support him fully, just as we'd expect players who we're letting go to give their all still. We signed him for a season and he's giving us a season - it's just business and there shouldn't be any hard feelings.

Lee smiths name was banded about last season. Decent player, doubt he would come to hkr though!

If your talking about Mckinnon he offered to stay until the end of the season and would have done if we never found a replacement.

He was a decent player before his union switch, now he seems to be nothing more than an average utility back.

If that's true about Welham then he can feck off now for me. I'm sure he loves the adoration of scoring 25+ tries a season and realises that left centre is the only position where Dobson will put that many on a plate for him.

He wouldn't be in my 17 for the Cas game, but I'm not coach, but he should certainly play wherever he's asked to. However, the thought of him at full back scares the out of me.

In a few weeks it seems, McD has gone from zero to hero.
I'll admit he's improved, but he still offered very little from a defensive pov (imo).

Anyway moving on. I'm with RBA. McD now offers nothing for the remaining games this season.
We need to look at all options available within the club for either a full time replacement or someone who could aptly cover if/when the time comes in the future.

Roosters? do you mean the Dragons? He signed a 3 year deal with them last season but got out of it because Wests never agreed to release him from the last year of his deal.

Couldn't agree with you more, imo he is in no way Fullback material, i saw him play in that position for Hull Fc and was terrible each time, i've seen nothing since then that would suggest he would be any better now, a definate no no for me.

I thikits a shame not to see him extend his stay

although he hasnt set the world alight with his displays ,i can see him getting to grips with the super league in the next few weeks .

when the warmer weather /hard grounds come along i can see him getting his footwork going.

i think he will attract alot of attention when the above happens .

Greg White the Toulouse winger is after a trial with a Super League club. Looks like he can play a bit of full back. Worth a punt. Wouldnt cost anything to trial him and has British nationality?
