He is…or he was. Actually Briscoe is fairly representative of where we are as a team imo.

He was great 2-3 years ago & fully deserved his place in the England side. Nowadays he still has some very good games & bursts of form, but he can also looks a bit laboured & tired at times.

This is the case with too many of our side now.

As individuals you could make a case for retaining most of them, but as a collective they’ve fallen off the pace & changes are needed.

Richie Mathers is a good player, but Wigan & Warrington have been quick to move him on when a better option has presented itself. If he was at Rovers he’d probably have got a contract extension. Maybe this is part of the reason why these 2 have pulled away from us so dramatically in the last couple of years?

Time for some harsh decisions to be made.

I actually feel sorry for the real rovers fans out there who did stick with them in the baron decades, only for the moaner to think the wheels are coming off once you have a bad season. The problem is, some of these new fans don't know what its like to have a rough season. They will be back in their arm chairs / crown soon, claiming they went to every game etc.....

The thing is, when we were proper rubbish you just kind of got used to it. We had that many awful performances and stupid defeats that you always half expected anyway.

After six years of being quite good it somehow seems worse.

One of my friends has always likened being a Rovers fan to having a particularly alluring but mental girlfriend, you know you should just dump her and get away for your own sanity but somehow you just can't.

Mind you, he turned out to be a massive shagger so perhaps we shouldn't really listen to that.
