I reckon saints were just looking for an excuse after Eastmond has signed for bath at end of season. If as the reports say eastmond has breached his contract they can get rid without paying his wages.

Yes, we know the reasons behind the de-registration and we've all seen the touching togetherness of Dobson and Hudgell during their increasingly frantic attempts to assure you all that Michael's staying.

I am one hundred percent certain that Dobson means what he says at this moment in time and has every intention of staying at Rovers.

But the fact remains that Rovers have left him in a precarious position. There is [ino guarantee[/i that Willie's passport will come and when it does there is [ino guarantee[/i that the RFL board will re-register him. Things can go wrong and folk can fall flat on their faces for reasons beyond their control. The crucial thing is this time of limbo while Dobson remains a free agent is dangerous for you.

Take this fabricated scenario:

Riolo rings up Dobbo: "Michael - Saints have rung - they're willing to pay up the rest of your Rovers contract and pay you Eastmond's wages for the rest of the year"

Dobbo: "I don't have a Rovers contract, but they've told me I will again soon and they've paid me a bonus to keep me smiling at Mullet, too."

Rialo: " Michael, a bird in the hand is worth twice as much as what you thought you were getting this year. And for me, this is business, my son".

Dobbo: "But..."

Rialo: " Don't be stupid, I've already warned Neil we're offski when the NRL come calling anyway...."

Good luck with your fantasy scenario. As I recall the cognoscenti west of the river were telling us we were paying stupid money for Dobson. So were it to happen it would obviously be ludicrously costly for the club concerned.

Why is it so out of the question that Micheael Dobson would sign for St Helens?

Saints have the capacity, capabality and withuout any disrespect intended would be seen as a "step up" career wise for a Hull KR player, or Hull FC for that matter. They have just suspended Eastmond and are probably looking for a reason to get out of that contract, while Dobson is a free agent as confirmed by the RFL so there would be no breach of contract.

It would hardly be surprising in my opinion.

Eh? It was well documented that Hull FC tried to sign Dobson, but Hull KR decided to offer a better deal - our mistake IMO.
