Anyway thread drift!

Cant see Craig Hall leaving Hull at the moment and I think his stock is rising. Full of confidence Craig is a quality centre.

I think that you hit the nail on the head there, Craig is a confidence player, and a very good one at that, you only have to look what that excuse for a coach did to him a few months ago.

Martin Dunn appears to be doing a good job and much of his role as player performance manager will be unseen by us. Our academy set up is certainly going from strength to strength with him very much at the helm. In a play off position and a league double over his old club along the way.

Its very much open to conjecture and opinions I think mate.

Is the idea of the academy to produce a team or to bring through 'star' individuals who have a super league future?

For me its not about which club they are coming from, its if they will improve our squad for the better - and i dont think he would at this time, but you have to take into account were he is from (english player) as i dont think there will be enough SL standard english players in 3years time to go around all the clubs, so maybe taking the decent ones early is a good plan.

Its about bringing through potential stars of the future of which we are blessed to have many at the minute.

I hope you do it is great to see local talent representing local teams. We are certainly looking forward to a couple of players breaking through very soon.

I think a lot of people at Rovers speak very highly of the work Chester has done this season with the reserves and first team.
He seems to have intelligently brought several of the under 18s into and out of the reserves throughout the season culminating in 4 of our starting pack last week that hammered Salford away been under 18s. (Jon Gay, Gareth Moore, Scott Taylor and Alex Everitt.)

My point was that the ones i named above were all rumoured to be heading from FC to Rovers.

I dont remember anyone every saying Dobson was rumoured to be moving from Rovers to FC. We were interesting in signing him before he was a rovers player but didnt match his valuation of himself as you guys did. Thats why i was questionning the relevance of mentioning him here, different scenario altogether.

As well you know mate ive always spoken highly of Chezzie anyway, be it as an FC player or a Rovers player/coach. He commands a high level of respect.

Exactly that, you have some great players that for some reason do not play as a team.

Fair point, however apart from Briscoe I am struggling to think of who you have who would be classed in the same league as Berrigan.

TBF there are very few players in Super League who could be classed as great.

If you change the great to very good then that is probably more realistic.

I would strongly agree with that. The term "great" gets handed out far too easily in my opinion. The current Hull and Rovers sides have some good players and some very good players but do Hull have a Steve Norton or Rovers a Roger Millward because they were great players. I dont think so.

Its tough been a pro player and sometimes you need to take responsibility for your actions because it is scrutonised by everyone. Craig hall will be a better player and person for all the tough times I reckon.
