I think his mistake was moaning about the quick turn round over Easter then filling the side with fringe players against one of the best sides in the competition. He will have expected the youngsters to rise to the occasion ? I don't think he expected the display he got. He has five days to sort it out, lets see how he gets on with the task, I would not get rid of him as I think he is the right man for Rovers & he is still learning his trade. Anyway who would replace him ? dont say Kear or Noble.

So we're now the club to have most recently broken our worst result record. But until yesterday ours seems to have been one of the more venerable ones, shared between 1956 and 1991, both at Halifax, coincidentally. Most clubs are too sensible to list theirs, but those SL clubs for which I could find one:
Cas 2006, Hull 2005, Salford 2000, Saints 1909, Warrington 1996, Widnes 2012.
Wigan's seems to have been their 75-0 reverse at saints in 2005 and Hudds can't have had too many worse than the 86-6 Leeds did them by in 1999.
So while there is no getting away from what it is, most clubs have had their worst day in fairly modern times.

Edit, most conceded for Bradford is 1931, but the margin was greater against Hull last year. Hudds lost by 82 in '88. London 6-82 in 2011. Wakefield in 1995, against Cas just for added salt in the wound.

I don't get your point. Naturally most blow out scores will be relatively recent due to the introduction of the 4 point try in the 80's (can't remember exactly when). I bet none of the above thrashings were on their own park in front of their own paying customers.

Besides, I don't care about other sides past failings, I'm concerned about the flippant way in which our coaching & playing staff approached & executed a SL fixture. All concerned should be ashamed of themselves. Even the Wigan fans were short changed yesterday. They travelled 2 hrs+ for a training session.

Far too much has been read into some of our results this season, particularly beating a shocking Hull side and the victory over half of Warrington's reserves. Widnes showed how easy that can be done.

My point, such as it is, is that talking about it in the context of our entire history is to be expected but summer rugby and 4 point tries makes comparison difficult. And I'm trying to rationalise away the plopness of it all, and you're not helping!

Whatever it is in relative terms, and despite some mitigating factors, it is a thoroughly embarrassing scoreline on its own terms, I acknowledge.

Lets hope for every rovers fan be they paying customers at the gate or tv watchers we do not see the sort of crap that was dealt up on Monday, no matter who is in charge

to be honest i felt worse when featherstone beat us 6-56 in the play offs 10 years ago after beating them 3 times in the league

If somebody had offered 4pts from six before the 3 games in eight days we would have taken it whatever combination...unfortunately did,nt see that coming on monday. Expected a defeat but not capitulation, worst performance ive seen from a rovers team since my first game in 1967. The legends at the KC on friday would have put up a better show than that. Stayed to the bitter end, but embarrassed to be a rovers supporter at the moment.

Look on the bright side. We had the least amount of oversea`s players, playing at super league level on Monday. The bad news is that we know how it ended.

Was absolutely gutted that day, having to watch Wakey & Fev in the GF when we'd won all 6 games against them during the league season



Seen some of the stats from yesterday, not pretty. We only had 111 carries, that must be a SL record.

I would like to congratulate the much maligned tackling of Con Mika. He's the only Rovers player who hasn't been accredited with a missed tackle. Considering as a team we apparently missed 49 tackles, that is good going from Con (20/20). Also, Horne's stats back up the belief that he put in a shift. Top tackles (43) and top metres gained (68m). Hall's right foot also took some hammer.

I doubt many will have ever witnessed such a collapse from our lot but with that Wigan were very impressive. They overran us down the flanks to begin with, then turned their attention to breaking us down the middle. By the 2nd half they were met by little resistance and were free to do as they pleased. Credit to Wigan tho' despite the ease of their task, I thought their application and desire to batter us was top notch. To go with that, their execution was sublime too. Still, at times we did very little to stop them and showed virtually no pride in doing so either. We'd have been battered even if we was playing touch in the 2nd half. Oh for Rodd Studd's mercy rule ....

Wonder how this one result will effect CS' Easter time review? Despite being (hopefully) a one off and just one game at the end of a tough 8 days, it can't be ignored either. What happened yesterday was simply nothing short of embarrassing for everyone concerned with Hull Kingston Rovers, but the competition too. We'll probably nil St Helens next week to balance it all out .... [size=85no I can't see that happening either![/size

Well done for staying to the end. Its a very chastening experience but you shouldn't be embarrassed, that should be the lot of the coaching staff and players. You're more to be applauded for seeing it through.
