Yet would still have received no points today. Bit like Hull on Friday. So you can't really talk can you. (Unless it's out of your ar$e,as per.)

| Can I personally thank all of you that travelled over for today's game. you came over in great numbers which is invaluable to a club like Wakefield. I'm sure you will produce better performances in the games to come. Honestly believe anyone can beat anyone on a certain day.
Anyway, thanks very much.

| Quote ="Pickering Red"I think all the posters on this forum need to get a sense of perspective and I include myself in this. Most are talking down our chances for the Super 8s this season already and it is still early doors.
Self evidently, if we are still shipping 40 points every game after week 5 or 6, then I would expect us to be making major changes on the coaching front. I would want to see our overall play be much more structured thereafter and those selected players to show more passion and intensity for 80 minutes and several to show better overall technique.
Yes, we all expected Saints, Wigan, Leeds and Wire to be unbeaten after 2 games, but I defy anybody but the most visionary pundit or ardent supporter to have predicted Wakey to be up there in this exalted company too. No fluke either.
Similarly, nobody would have predicted Cas and Huddersfield to be 0 from 2 like us. Salford - yes, given their opening opposition and multiple personnel changes.
What really p***es me off is people going overboard on Hull's miserly defence so far, but it still didn't get them a win against Warrington did It?
I also think injuries and suspensions will have an even bigger impact than ever this season on some team's chances.
One certainty, never believe the club generated media spin and hype published on the Rovers website and in the print media and start believing that it will take time for this team to get, given all the new faces and that this will be a season of transition as we all thought.
We owe it to the team to stay positive for now and for now we are only 1 point behind the team in 8th.
I welcome feedback.
PS - just seen Stan's post and he would appear to be right on the money from a playing perspective. I'll have to respond after I have seen the full game on Hull KR TV'"
As an ardent Wakefield fan no I didn't expect quite such a good start, however I certainly didn't get the worst team in the comp tag which for me was just a lazy choice.
That said can't see why you expected Cas to be there. There team is very average on paper and on grass it would appear - a flash in the pan team if ever there was one. That said it was one hell of a flash so credit where it's due and it certainly gives hope to the rest of the also rans which includes Wakey and HKR along with Cas and the rest.

| I thought watching from the stands today that we seemed to have a lot of possession. Wakey not so much. Our intensity was not as great as wakey. Our red zone defence was shocking, no organisation. To flat an slow in attack. Hopefully the structures will soon start to show, if there are any.........

| Quote ="SirStan"I'll field this one. Having stood directly behind the dugouts today, I had the same view as the Rovers bench, I just hope they can see what I see.
(1) Intensity. It's just not there, and this is all about having a collective attitude. The soft underbelly has been there for 4/5 years now.
(2) Tackle dominance. We lose collision frequently, with little or no "wrestle", allowing a quick ptb which opens our outside backs to a world of pain.
(3) Poor line speed. We often stand and await the runners, with a bit of footwork, it gets even worse for us.
(4) Individual missed tackles. The 2 main culprits from last week were dropped, so it could have been worse, however there were still some 1-on-1 misses due to poor technique and lack of energy. This is indefensible.
I'm not knee-jerking, but what we saw today isn't strictly a 2015 phenomenon, it's been a continuation of the last 3 seasons efforts. I do expect us to improve, but by the time we even half get it right, the top 8 will be away in the distance. Huge question marks about the coach for me.'"
Stan that is a quality post you have probably articulated what a lot of fans were feeling.
I'm sure Chris Chester is aware of these issues too, but resolving them is the difficult bit.

Pretty much spot on, you must have been stood near me.
I'll accept the gelling comments and we knew that but what I can't accept is the apparent lack of commitment, we lost the game due to lack of line speed and intensity, it's obvious if you're up against a pack the size of lauatiti and Paea then its crucial not to let them get up a head of steam. I lost count of the number of times a hand wasn't laid on a player until they'd traveled the full ten, thus making an average gain of a minimum of 15 yards a tackle. No team will win games giving away this amount of ground never mind one that once in their own twenty roll over and let the oppo walk it in.
I'm not one for calling for a coaches head but I have to ask what they're doing during the week as line speed should be a given. Listening to Poching made it even worse, his reasons for us losing were we handed over too much ball. This wasn't the issue, the issue was not being able to defend once the ball was handed over. Did we defend a set on our line all game? I can remember one I think.
Good teams are built on defence, set the platform then switch on the style, we have this in completely the wrong order. I agree Rome wasn't built in a day, but I'm pretty certain they'll have started with the foundations not the Colosseum.

| I'd agree with a lot that is being posted about our defence and it being the foundation of any good side.
You only have to compare our markers to the opposition. Ours look like folks staggering away from a car crash in a daze. If they even get to their feet whilst our opponents are up washed dressed had a fag and a drink before we play the ball.
Extremely worryingly our coach has been at the club years and you would have hoped he would have addressed this last season and instilled it in the new players.
Think we have a dud. Hope I am wrong.

| am i right in saying that we had spent all week working on defence and they was just going to let the attack take care of itself?
Now i understand the gelling process but it was the coaches choice to have wholesale changes and from what i have seen so far we are no better off than last season,
Charlie and sio played well yesterday and i don't think we will get a bad game out of them
goulding is not fit and got brushed of a tackle a few times by Craig hall if this happened while at Wigan he would be sat in the stands the week after,
mantellato looks nothing other than a goal kicker.
Salter I really want the kid to make it but I'm not sure about him,
campese I thought ball in hand was terrible his passing selection was poor at times and tackling ain't the best,
Kelly is pure class but looks like he tried far to much yesterday and looks not totally match fit to me
boudebza was bought in as a support hooker and is miles better than the guy he is supposed to be supporting
Carlisle is worst hooker in the league
our whole back row are made up of squad players and I'm not sure if there is a worse back row in the league,
the front row look ok just lacking fitness badly,

| Difficult to watch yesterday. I can take getting beat when you know your team have put a shift in or beaten by a better team i.e leeds, but yesterday was just a massive backwards step. The lack of enthusiasm, motivation and desire was the most disappointing for me.
Yes, we will score tries this season and with a bit more control yesterday we could of easily racked up 30+ points, but it seems we are lacking in a bit of honest hard graft to allow our flair players to get in them positions.
the 1st 30 mins yesterday were not to bad i don't think, we handled quite a lot of what they threw at us and then got our selves in the lead. Then our game plan went to pot and although albert kelly is clearly our best player, the pass he threw out for miller to pick up and level the scores was a shocker and a momentum swinger. Why was we even doing that with 5 mins to go with a half time lead in tact, in our own 20. Not only are we lacking enthusiasm and motivation in defence, we are one of if not the dumbest team in the league with game management.
Stan has summed up the defensive issues well so will not go over, but the biggest issue for me is that we just cant control the ruck. Teams then get a roll on, suck in our middle men and leave our fringes ( who couldn't tackle a sunday dinner) exposed.
Wakey did the basics, very well. None of their tries were outstanding pieces of skill/power etc they just ran good lines, ran hard and played with energy. If we are struggling let's at least do them basics see where it takes us from there.
Honorable mentions yesterday - Sio worked hard, mccarthy put a shift in, kelly tried ( maybe to hard ) blair although still looking round put a good shift in as well, and french john looked good. Cockayne as per looks to spark things. KR fans, fantastic support. I am not overly optimistic if i am honest i can't see any defensive improvement coming.

| Just to raise a query why did Poaching do all the media after the game yesterday?
Wonder if the Head Coach would have done them if we won?
Looked like Poaching was hung out to dry. Bit cowardly it looked from here.

Radio said it was due to CC doing sky and written media. Said he wouldn't have made the radio interview so sent Poching.

Certainly are. Esp as we'd just received a reliving 1st tackle penalty on our in goal line. A simple clearing set and look to consolidate a 12-6 lead was the order of the day at that time. Instead we got an offload followed by a wild aimless pass which I think was on tackle 1.

| I think we have fittness issues with some of the players who came in to the squad late, But the main thing after watching yesterday is that Wakey put a team out on the park, we put out 17 players some of who are very talented. We have two weeks to get some fittness & organisation as I think Wigan will not be at their best after the world club game. I still take an optomistic slant on the season & have not given up on them yet.

I suggest you watch again or take off your HKR specs - the Guardian and the YP describe some of Wakefield's tries as "superb" "wonderful" "brilliant" their words not mine andI'd agree, still stay bitter my friend.

| Vasty, we are picking apart our own failings, if you want to blow smoke up your own player's asses, feel free, but you won't get any buy-in around here. Without wishing to put your performance down, a team prepared to miss <35 tackles would have beaten you yesterday. Smith was superb, your pack dominated, but it was all as a result of our deficiencies. That's a HKR fan perspective, and it's the only one I've got. I don't do "neutral".

| The majority of wakey tries came on the back of either our mistakes or our penalties. If we had an ounce of game management or ability to defend you would not have scored as many tries as you would not have been in the positions to do so.
We were pants, and your guys thoroughly deserved the win because as i said you did the basics very well. You could argue that a couple of rileys tries had decent skill level but realistically 1 dummy runner and a cut out ball should be relatively easy to defend against, unless you play for us.
Compare this to the week previous when kallum watkins scored/created tries out of pure skill you can see my point. They were actually hard to defend against were as the wakey tries could have been avoided. I applaud wakey for the conviction shown in finishing us off, they did what they needed to do.
