Between 1952 and 1955 our nickname was the "BLUE and GOLDS".How did we get our nickname "THE DONS"?.

In 1955 the clubs Directors thought that there current Blue & Gold nickname sounded more like a military band than a rugby team so they decided to run a competition amongst the teams supporters to find a more appropriate name supporter Bob McCann came up with the name "The Dons" & the name as stuck to this day.If my memory serves me right Bob McCann was employed as the groundsman at the club.

Bob McCann had a very striking head of ginger hair.

I think we had two chairmen in 1955 Ralph Lewis was chairman but resigned & Len Tattersfield took over the role of club chairman.
