Cask Corner currently has the very nice Raw Dark Peak Stout 4.5% as well as Brass Castle Bad Kitty 5.5% while the Old Angel has Ossett Big Red 4.0%.

Tried a new one last night in the shape of Devils Backbone Brewing Co (USA) Independence Ale 4.7. Not really my thing but if you don't try you don't know.

Purple Moose Brewery Dark Side of the Moose 4.6% & Cairngorm Wildcat 5.1% in the Elihu Vale (Wetherspoons)
Ruddles in the North & South Wales Bank (Lloyds) ... beyond that they only had 2 ales, both golden - incredibly disappointing!
Joules Slumbering Monk 4.5% in the Royal Oak

Had forgotten just how nice the Slumbering Monk is ... a few pints reminded me

Wadworth 6X in the Angel and Batemans XXXB in the Gatehouse last night. Both excellent beers.

XXXB is a particular favourite of mine so nice to see that that The Gatehouse had it on. Sadly I'm suffering from a a reaction to grain based brews and bread so I have had to cut right back on such like. Severe osteo-arthritis in my right knee and supping sets it off like its not true. I have been 'recommended' to switch to Cider if I want to keep on drinking. I have to say that the switch has been beneficial and I am not getting the same reaction as I had with ale

Good to hear that Weatherspoons start their Cider Festival on the 11th July for a few weeks so will nipping into the Gatehouse and the Angel.

Thwaites 13 Guns & Dukeries Gunsmoke in Cask Corner ... both dark, 5.5% and very nice.

The Gatehouse currently has the very nice Acorn Darkness 4.2% and another local brew Stancill's No7 4.3%.

The Tut had an IPA on yesterday which was very enjoyable ... Black Sheep Velo 4.2% ... hints of orange and coriander.

Tut n Shive this week, Thwaites Magic Sponge 4.2% ... all gone

Will it work with the dons players on matchday.

Crikey no not if Gary was the sponge man. The sponge would resemble the 'smoking' scene on Green Mile

I think it's more a description of Gary's liver ...the magic sponge.

Cask Corner ... Brown Ales From Dusk till Dawn 4.1%
Angel ... Grafton Framboise 4.0%

The last named being a very pleasant surprise.

Cottage Sticky Wicket 4.2% in the Tut this week ... Very enjoyable.

Irn Bru , made from Girders .

Phoenix Thirsty Moon 4.6% in the Tut hasn't been too bad at all. A bitter with an extra dry edge to it.

Sadlers Red IPA 5.7% very enjoyable in the Reginald Mitchell (Wetherspoons), Hanley, Stoke after Boltons friendly at Port Vale on Wednesday evening.

Yorkshire Day drinks yesterday;

Wharfe Bank Yorkshire IPA Amber Ale 5.1% (Gatehouse)
Elland Reet Grand Yorkshire Ale 4.5% (Angel)
Acorn Barnsley Bitter (Yorkshire Grey)

Another success from Dukeries in the shape of Bolt Out Of The Blue 5.0% sampled in the Gatehouse yesterday.

Also Grafton Marmalady 4.8 tasted in the Angel ... as you might imagine, orange is the key to this brew, both in looks and taste.

Enjoyed a couple of very nice Acorn brews this week;

Kashmir 4.7% (Angel) and Sovereign 4.4% (Gatehouse)

Imperial Yorkshire Rhubarb Stout 5.0% in Cask Corner on Friday evening ... nice but was more coffee than rhubarb. Also sampled Stancill's Barnsley Bitter.

Spinning Mule ... Three B's Pinch Noggin 4.6% ... gorgeous!
Old Three Crowns ... a house ale brewed by Theakstons 3.7%

Man & Scythe ... Bank Top Flat Cap 4.0%
Barristers ... Hyde's Friendship 4.5% & Bank Top Port O Call 5.0%

The 3 Bolton brews and the Hyde's ale were all very nice but the Three B's was the best of an enjoyable evening.
