Group of us went and we decided on a one to three tick marking system for the ales. The top marks went to Beerworks of Sheffield Dr Morton's Ancient Grease. 4.4%. Bobs of Osset- Cahrdonayle (excellent) The Dark beer award went to Brown Cows Indulgence 4.6% (particularly well liked by the group) closely followed by Dark Tribes Dr Griffins Mermaid 4.5%. My favourite (but I am a massive fan) Thornbridge's Jaipur 5.9%(spent most of my tokens on that one until it sold out) The other outstanding ale for the group was Yorkshire Dales (Askrigg) Muker Silver 4.1% a blonde lager style produced with Hallertau, Northern Brewer and Stryrian hops. Stunning stuff and would be a right winner if cooled (not too much) and in Summer. Very well attended event and was bumping when we left at 8.30pm.

| Did manage a couple of hours out last night and sampled the following;
Black Hole Supa Nova
A flowery pale ale brewed with lager malts 4.8%.
Milestone Olde Home Wrecker
Chestnut in both colour and flavour -described by the brewer as a winter warmer 4.9%.
Orkney Red MacGregor
A particular favourite of mine. A ruby red ale which has hints of cherries, toffee, caramel and chocolate and has a biscuity malt palate 4.0%.

Had originally planned to go by train but circumstances changed and ended up having to drive.
If I had gone by train it would have been first port of call after getting off the train.

| Sampled today;
Derby Brewing Company Maltiferous
A mid-brown malty bitter 4.5%.
Bells Brewery Arapaho
Described by the brewery as a light amber ale but certainly seemed on the dark side to me 5.3%.

| Gorged myself on Thursday night downing in this order White Rose's Darker Shade Of Ale, Durham White Gold, Funfair Brandy Snap, A N Other ( the name escapes me), Shardlow's Six Nations England Ale, Cairngorm Howler and Greene King's Gosnold's Glory, the first five of which were at CAMRA's National Pub of the Year. Still feeling the effects at lunchtime today, so restricted myself to a pint of Bush Berry Australian Porter. Life's a b!tch!

| Ah, looking to call me a plagiarist.
I look forward to your back-tracking.
(and don't be calling me a cheat simply because I can tell the colour of a drink or pick up on some of the flavours)!

| To be fair you have created your own versions of what the book says editing the content to nearly fit what I have written.
I also take it that I have a different view to the book where you haven't posted anything (the German brew for example).

So you have the book?
The coincidences are spooky aren't they?
I didn't find Willows Wood.
I found the Keller Bier....it didn't say much about taste....so you could invent that.
Vanilla and pepper eh?
I was thinking more of a crisp and and fresh character, very heavily hopped with Hallertau and Select hops and truly unique.
Don't worry....your secret is safe with me.

| Old Mill Willows Wood
Wanderer
A golden hoppy pale ale 4.2%.
Official Site
Thirst quenching, golden coloured with a light hoppy, fruity balance ending with a gentle hoppy sweetness.
Another person's view:-
Quote St Georgen Brau Keller Bier - This Bavarian import poured a slightly cloudy golden amber colour, had zero aroma (even Jo, whose nose is much better than mine, was hard-pressed to detect anything) and despite a distinct, green-apple-sour tang, with a very bitter hoppy after-taste, wasn't huge on flavour either. It wasn't unpleasant, but I certainly wouldn't have gone back to the bar for another.'"
He couldn't detect vanilla and pepper....but he had probably not been eating ice-cream and interacting with riot police.
This German beer has saved you for now.
But I will be watching from now on.
Right that's enough back to normal service............

I'm intuitive.
It's usually us up at the top end of Cusworth that get power cuts when the rest of the area escapes.........we didn't have one here.
