I forecast this in a previous post....that we would be 18 down before we woke up.
But I was wrong...we never woke up!

After chatting with forum posters after the match, it was suggested I shouldn’t mention our chances of finishing second in any posts I make this evening! I won’t. We can’t finish any lower than fifth!



The fact we were thinking about a 40 point win but ended up conceding 41 just about sums everything up. We were disjointed, out-enthused, out-played and flat throughout.

As Wanderer referenced, has the return of Watson Boas had a negative effect on the squad?

Is the fact we’ve got such long breaks between games been an issue?

Is the fact that we have to rearrange games to avoid playing on the Eco-Power pitch at the end of the football season a contributory factor that leads to a lack of continuity?

Anyway, the good news is that S/O wasn’t able to attend today’s debacle. Three guys sitting near me left just after half-time – when Midlands scored shortly after the restart.

Look at the reaction of the players after the Oldham away game and then look at todays. What's changed, the dressing room, its obvious there is unrest. I thought that Watson coming back would be a bonus, got to think the opposite now.

Oh well play offs and trips away to Hunslet/ Oldham/ Workington. Not a cat in hells chance of promotion now.

Boas absolutely hasn't been the player he was when he left us but to pin the last 2 defeats on him is very harsh, how about shifting the focus on the guy who has picked him on the last 2 occasions and had had 6 seasons here and we are non the better! Horne has had a meal ticket here over the years and with what I've witnessed doesn't have anything that could make him a decent coach. Will we do what's right and what's needed for the club or should we keep on being an old boys act and a soft club? Think we all know the answer

I am merely suggesting that perhaps a squad of players who were winning the vast majority of games may have been unsettled by the decision.

I for one would of been not happy with his return if i was a current player in the team but is that enough to lose 10-41 at home to a team that has just been comprehensively beat by cornwall? I scratch my head to see how our coach gets absolves from any blame or accountability, would any other club have kept with someone for 6 seasons without any progression? Absolutely mind boggling

Well....next week we have Worky.
It ain't looking good for us....Worky are doing a mini Hunslet...beneath the radar stuff.
It is a long way to go and results there are iffy.
Dons are absolutely shot at the moment.
So who knows...they have shown they can beat all but Dewsbury...but that was yesterday.
A little too much chopping and changing for me of late...
So in conclusion...I think we have buggered it for 2nd place and will be well up against it for promotion.
I really ain't bothered...if they do it I will carry on into Championship rugby..if not...call me Gary!

I'm not a Doncaster fan but do like reading forums.
The die hard fans will always turn up to matches even when after a result like yesterday you say I'm never going again.
We are a country brainwashed by football.
I don't know what your crowd was yesterday but I doubt it was a thousand.
Clubs can only hope with crowds like that.
The fans only turn up when a team strings 4 or 5 wins together then people start to think I might go next week.
It's such a shame as we have a fantastic sport.
If we had as many kids turn up at amateur clubs as football clubs do for junior tournaments we would have so much talent to choose from.

We have taken that decision. I hope the players can recover some pride in the forthcoming fixtures and make at least an impact in the playoffs but I am not prepared to support the people allegedly running the club.

I get the feeling the next two games are huge. If we implode against Workington and lose to North Wales, our mood will be even lower than it is after the last two defeats. It's understandable, Wilf, that people will question whether they want to be part of another season in League One.

I really enjoyed watching Leigh beat St Helens and Hull KR beat Wigan in the challenge cup over the weekend. It doesn't seem all that long ago that we were playing Leigh but their fortunes and ours have taken completely different paths. Being stuck in League One is quite depressing - with just nine home league games to look forward to, intertwined with long spells with no home fixtures.

Just thought... if Wilf and S/O stop going, there'll hardly be any of us left on here.

I toughed it out in the seventies when losing by less than 50 was a good result. I don't think I've got it in me to stop going as I'd find life without the Dons too hard to swallow. I enjoy meeting up with my friends at matches too. I'd probably never see them otherwise. I do understand why people might give up, so I'm not criticising anyone. It's just a shame we can't seem to get out of this God forsaken league to give us all some hope of better times ahead.

The Dons better look out at Worky...Town have won 6 on the trot and will want revenge for the pasting they got down here.
It is hard to believe we were so much better...

I also watched the RH interview ... 'the sending off didn't help' ... the game was long gone before that!

Them busting us up the middle (our middle, our muddle) is the worst thing on that video...
All of it was very scrappy up until that point....like a bunch of strangers playing their first game ....

It struck me that we expected to win without grafting...

How can RH pan his players without panning himself ...ain't he part of the team?

I'd be ed off that he was somehow blaming me as a player for his incompetence...I'd be thinking he can do one!

You lucky chap, Wanderer. You only saw the highlights! The lack of creativity and cutting edge in attack was painful to watch. Midlands ability to make yards in the tackle was hard viewing too.

I'm sure the Workington coach will have had a beano spotting our weaknesses on that VT.

Just out of interest, does any know whether all coaches get access to 80 minute viewings of all matches played in the league? I can't imagine each team has enough resources to send people to watch their opponents' games.
