Because the Bulls have confirmed the player Sam Wood is under the £20,000 salary cap requirement and therefor under rule BS:17 the minimum 3 games does not apply. Doubt if that rule can be used in Ben Crooks case.

| The suggestion is that 2 of the 3 will face sanctions so I guess that would be Batley and us.
Announcements are due later today.

Can't see it being a modest fine. With this funding plan for next year, you could get more money than the fine if you keep the point - and that's the problem.

| If they fine AND deduct points, they're potentially fining twice. Once with the real fine, and again with how much it costs to lose some league places.
Or worse, it could cost someone their existence if it causes them to fall into League One.
I am not saying there should be no punishments, or points deductions, just emphasising how much thought needs to go into this.
---
I am trying to think of anyone who could have played in his place; the only player I can think of is Tom Hodson who has not been available for the last 2 weeks; how do you prove someone was, or was not, fit for selection two weeks ago?

Would Shaun Leaf or Chris Spurr have been available had Ben Crooks not played? I doubt the RFL would consider any form of leniency though if we said we played Ben Crooks because we had nobody else.
If found guilty, I would suspect we'll definitely lose the Keighley bonus point. The question would then be whether there's a fine as well, or additional points deduction. Considering it's 9 points for going into administration, anything more than a 3 point penalty would surely seem harsh?
The Batley case with Sheffied poses a slightly different challenge for the RFL as Sheffield lost the game. Will Sheffield be awarded three points if Batley are found guilty, whilst Batley would be docked three points (minimum)?
The impacts of these decisions could be huge, as Jemmo points out. It really does need to be thought through properly by the RFL.

| Shouldn't be in this predicament if the club had checked the rules which were fairly simples. Seemed the forum contributors new 3 game requirement. Better now win the remaining fixtures to make amends.

Yep, I've gone up my own exhaust pipe many a time trying to find things on the RFL site, especially things I thought I'd seen at some point!
If that rule does exist, it could get us out of a scrape.

True, we were discussing the rules on here before the Keighley game. We'd identified the three game rule.
Until the club issues a statement on the matter, there's a possibility that we might not know the full story. It might be wiser for us to reserve judgement until we do.

Can't argue with that DM. Too much speculation on the majority of sports clubs sites these days. Whatever the outcome we still have a club to support.

I think you must have dreamt it Jemmo. When Workington beat Fev they had their fitness conditioner on the wing and named an injured player on the bench to make up 17 names so that they didn't get a fine. The injured player wasn't even stripped ready to play. It happened when we were in Championship 1 as well when we lost at Gateshead in a mid-week game where we only had 14 players and named 2 injured players to make up the 17 on the team-sheet.
The Fev match was before the deadline but the Gateshead match was the next to last match of the season.
There is a mention in one of the rules that says in order that a DR player can play in the play-offs he must have played 6 games before the deadline (25th July) and goes on to say that a club can seek dispensation if the DR player would have but couldn't make the 6 games due to injury. It doesn't mean he could play until the RFL look in to it.

hmmmm. the Rule is under a sub-category on the RFL Rules page of "GRAND FINAL SERIES" if you goto www.therfl.co.uk/the-rfl/rules/i ... section=B3
I would argue that having this rule in the section of Grand Final Series is very misleading. when this is a rule right in the middle.
GRAND FINAL SERIES (No mention in the header of this section of regular season?????)
B3:17
Dual Registered Players who have a Salary Cap Value of £20,000 or more i.e. those who receive a category A, B, C or D classification, must have played in at least three League or League Cup fixtures for the Championships club that season before the end of season registration deadline which applies in that Competition in order to play in games which fall after that deadline whether they be regular season or Play Off games.
Dual Registered Players who switch over to a Loan Agreement following the end of season registration deadline must have played in at least three games of the regular season in order to be eligible for the Play Offs.

Great spot that Rob. This could be the reason why its been missed. Its not only us that's have missed it either. At least Ben had played in other games.Batley have been done for playing Fairbank and it was his first game for the club! The rule must be vague if its been missed by the Batley board. They are run by a solicitor after all!!
