I can't believe you are blaming the floodlights !
I didn't see Barrow sporting night-vision goggles, so it was the same for both teams. Yes, they are bad, we know that, and the club are doing their best to find the £200,000 funding for replacements.
You must have been watching a different match to me (and a lot of your fans) if you think the scoreline flattered Barrow. We missed 4 conversions, had 2 tries disallowed and rarely got out of 2nd gear !
Bauer's try was class, but the second was a simple run-in that any back worth his salt would have scored with a 10 metre head-start.
It'll be tough for us at the Keepmoat, as it always is, but we have Ned Catic, Zeb Luisi and 2/3 others due in the next couple of weeks, so that should take us up another level hopefully.
Good luck for the rest of 2009 (except against us of course!).

The scoreline flattered us ???????
The scoreline flattered Doncaster in a big way. As has been said We never got out of 2nd gear and still managed to be quicker in all departments. Your bullying tactics never worked either. When we stepped up as gear we cut through your line like a hot knife through butter.
I would say the floodlights did you a favour - during the day in better conditions the score would have been 60 easily.
Im afraid to say that The Dons may struggle this year unless you inject some pace into your game and sort out your discipline.

| It's all about opinions, lads.
Thanks for sharing them.
Just like to point out that you were playing against 12 men or 12 v 11 for 2/3rd of the match.
I hope we both stay up. With crowds like yours you deserve to. If only the Doncaster public were as keen

The reason why they had a larger than average crowd of 1809 was because the club were giving vouchers or some scheme for there supporters to purchase tickets for there home cup tie against Wigan

| The club were giving away vouchers for the Wigan game, but I think we'll average 1,800+ this season anyway. We averaged 1,450 last season with no away fans.
It's true that you were down a man, but only for 35 minutes of the game. We had players in the bin at the same time as you so it was 12 against 12 for 20 minutes of the game. I actually thought we played better in the first half when both sides had 13.
Good luck for 2009.

| Cook was sent off after 34 minutes.
That leaves 46 minutes...he was off.
The sin binnings were McDermott and Bovill (9 mins)
Finch (34 mins) Divorty (20 mins).
So it went... both sides 13 men for 9 mins
Both sides 12 men for 10 mins
Both sides 13 men for 1 min.
Barrow 13 men Donny 12 for 10 mins
Barrow 13 men Donny 13 for 4 mins.
Barrow 12 Donny 12 for 10 minutes.
Barrow 13 Donny 12 for 36 minutes.
Totalling that lot gives the time Barrow had an extra man as 46 mins.

In the cup game last week Queens had 2 players sinned binned so they played 20 mins of the 62 minutes with 12 men but they still managed to score two trys against us in the period when there second player was in the sin bin

Do you think we would have attracted 1800 fans had we been playing Wigan at home in the Cup, voucher scheme or no? You know the answer as well as I do, Geoff.

Not too long back season 2000 in fact our average home attendance for league matches was 1603 so you must ask yourself why are the 800 missing fans staying away?

Wrong end of town, maybe? Wrong setting? The credit crunch? Could be a number of reasons. What's your take on it?
All of these, I would venture to suggest.

In the year 2000 we were playing at the wrong end of town, the credit crunch wasn't effecting many people last season but disposable income is very tight at present.
The Rovers & Rugby Union club are enjoying successful seasons
I think no promotion or relegation for at least 3yrs discourages people from watching the game.
Far too many rule changes.
More kicking than in rugby union
Pretend scrums
Fast tracking teams in to Super League in favour of teams from the established areas of the game.
Poor performance by the England team
The majority of games are very boring to watch the rule changes have taken away the skills of the game the game seems to revolve around five drives and a kick and hope the other team surrender the ball

Unfortunately, I can't argue with much of that, although we were penalised at a scrum on Saturday, which is a novelty.
