Re the spike on the goal post, I have a memory of Tommy Lane colliding with the post and the spike just missing him as he lay on the floor spark out. "Not many people know that"

Re Tommy Lane, if he never played at Tattersfield I would assume it must have happened at York Rd. If he is still alive maybe we could ask him. The spikes could be quite dangerous from that height.My memory could be playing tricks but I recall thinking how lucky it missed him.

The ground was called Bentley Rd until the 1960's when it was renamed Tattersfield in honour of long standing chairman & director of the club Leonard Tattersfield
