Doncaster Rugby League Club is delighted to confirm the signing of Brett Waller from Gateshead Thunder who will add real presence to the Dons pack.
Hull born Waller spent two seasons at York City Knights in 2010 and 2011 after signing from amateur outfit Skirlaugh who are also based in Hull. Whilst in the amateur game he represented the BARLA Yorkshire side in 2008 and toured the South Pacific with the BARLA Lions in 2009.
Waller is a 6'5" prop forward and weighs in over 17 and a half stone and was an ever present for Gateshead last season scoring an impressive 14 tries from the front row.
Dons' head coach Tony Miller said: "Brett's got a good engine and regularly played 80 minutes for Gateshead in Championship One last season.
"He has good defence, can offload in the collision and knows where the try line is which is a big bonus for us.
"Going up a division we needed some size in our pack and Brett will certainly give us that and also give the team plenty of go forward.
"Brett is impressed by what we are trying to do as a club and wants to play a big part of our continued development."
25 year-old Waller said: "I had offers from three other Championship clubs but once I knew Doncaster was interested in me I had no hesitation to accept their offer.
"I'm really looking forward to joining up with the team and I know quite a few of the lads already (Brett was Lee Waterman's best man) so I know I'm joining a well-run club.
"I had a knee construction in 2010 and missed a few games with York and my confidence was a bit low so I decided to join Gateshead and decline York's offer of another year with them.
"My dad lives up in Middlesbrough so that was a major factor when I joined Gateshead but it also enabled me to get some much needed game time under my belt which did my knee the world of good."
