To be fair he's a great chairman is Kevin, but if they owe money to the inland revenue i can understand the RFL being touchy especially given other circumstances with the likes of Wakey and Oldham.

Everyone seems to want to have a pop at Widnes these days. It's jealousy.

As attacks go though this one is a bit mild. He seems to be lamenting the fact more than anything that not everyone is lucky enough to have a rich owner, although he should have just said as much instead of the extra bit of drivel. I understand clubs frustrations down here, but their focus is often very much misguided. No one as high profile has suffered more for the game than widnes.

Dont see many Leythers having a pop, the books were probably legally massaged but it dont matter, Widnes were selected 3 years ago - enjoy.

What I hope all fans agree on is that British Sport demands P&R, by all means have minimum standards but sport isnt sport without it.

I don't think SOC will be wasting his time or money responding to this. It won't matter nearly so much in four months time.

There has been an increasing amount of niggling going on from Batley in our direction in the last couple of years for some reason. I think it has something to do with a few close games in which we either won the game or drew the game at the death. Their fans seemed to adopt a completely different attitude after these games and none of it was helped by the ludicrously Barrow like biased reports that appeared on their website.

Having said all of that... He makes a very important point and as a game we should rally around Batley. This is definitely a case where the small club (no offence intended) is being picked on and it's completely unfair!!!

I know mate and i look fwd to at least beat you once this season.

The trend is that each Champ club is going to continue to struggle, and even more so, unless they get significant cash injections like we did.

I was talking about the Batley Chairman pointing out that the RFL are not applying this rule to every club in the game. And if you actually believe that you made a 1M profit, a year after you made a loss, with lower attendances, no prize money and loss of pre-season due to the weather then you are deluded. There is nothing wrong with it, it is clear that O'Connor is bankrolling the club.

I don't get the focus on making A profit after a loss... Is that not normal? You wipe out any remaining debt make the changes you want and then if business plan is correct you reap the benefits the next year? Or are we saying any team loosing money should carry on to do do? People don't seem to realise SO'C is running a business unlike other owners who just spend hard cash leaving no infrastructure!

No you see it's us Widnes fans that don't get it! We get the highest crowds in the league have some big sponsors and a council 110% behind the club but without SO'C we wouldn't be sustainable in any form. However every club in our league including those who spend massively on first team reckon they do it fine with no debt and no major backer

The 1m debt was when Ste Vaughaun the crook was at the club.Accounts written off and a new Tax year could be started afterwards.We won the Rail final in 2009 and 2010 we got to the Final.This is gate receipts through the games ,unlike your team not getting through the group stages.We have more fans than Fax and maybe more merchandise sales aswell.Stobart spotters maybe buying merchandise because got Stobarts on their gear.

Do you know what amounts of money the sponsors pay such as Haltoncouncil ,jst,Hattons Solictors,Stobarts,3g Modal,LandRover,Myler estates etc?This is what confuses me about people to be honest.Even VIQI help for funding academy and players in the first team.Seems to me that everyone is an accountant, and to be honest it is jealousy.
