Swinton have majorly underachieved in the past 4 or 5 seasons, perhaps with Smithy and McCormack in charge they will now start moving upwards.

Danny Heaton, Andy Isherwood, Bruce Johnson, Little Gary Hulse.

I think Isherwood has gone to Oldham, if they signed Doran they would have a cracking little squad for next year (certainly in the pack anyhow)

On a seperate note i was surprised to see Liam Higgins (ex cas) sign for Sheffield today, he'll be very good at this level.

I think Swinton have made a great signing and will probably smash their league next year with S Mac being there also.

No disrespect to Swinton but he's far too good for Champ 1. I still don't get why we got rid of him. Coyle and Netherton aren't fit to lace his boots.

That's the thing I just don't get. We are weaker at hooker with us letting him go.

But could be cheaper, and have more long term potential to play in SL, Netherton already has. There's often alot more too it than how good they are. Doran was our player of the year but we've let him go - got to think long term and outside of the box. Something we've failed to do for a long time.

I do understand the thinking, I just don't understand the choice. Bar one good game against Barrow, Netherton didn't do much for me. Both him and Coyle were far too slow with the distribution from the ptb. Of course this may all have been hampered by the fact that at times all three of them were on the field and we lacked a key play maker following Webster's departure, but I just don't rate either of them particularly highly going off what I have seen so far particularly when you look at who they are replacing and the service Smith gave us.
