| An incredibly frustrating game for a number of reasons.
First off, I was stuck in front of the stupidest loud mouth in the history of Widnes. Kept calling everyone "maggot" and blaming the referee even when he didn't blow his whistle. I honestly had to put my headphones in second half to drown out his offensive noise. Listening to The Prodigy whilst watching rugby league aint half bad. Maybe next time I'm watching it on sky I will turn off that bald fool and stick on ACDC instead.
There were old people and kids about and this idiot was ruining it for everyone. If we'd have had him as coach, centre or referee we'd no doubt win 80-0 every week. Seriously, sometimes I just think, you know what, go home, take a look in a mirror, and shout the things you are saying right now. See how it looks and whether you are as ashamed as you should be in retrospect. Go see a good psychologist and get a new hobby. Painting never lets you down. If you're this bad at sporting events, don't go because you have a problem.
We could all have a good moan about the referee, some of the cumberland throws going about were making me annoyed. But let's check the facts shall we. In the first half hour there were around 7 or 8 penalties against us, and Lee Doran was involved in every single one.
Yes I know he puts the hard work in. But so do other people and he undermines them every time he gives away a stupid penalty. We could find a work horse like him who didn't give away as many penalties. I'd be happy with someone slightly less commited if he didn't get penalised so much because it's hard to get possession or retain it with this man and so it's hard to win any games. Next year, get rid, and never get back. Not good enough, too stupid. Oh for a Julian F O Neill. He was no angel but he was a hard worker who was much better with discipline.
Poor conditions for rugby league but I felt that we could have won that and it was discipline which cost us most and a lot of that is down to the one man.
Jamie Rooney lost a bit of respect from me by gesturing to our supporters. You sometimes get that in a cheeky way but this was more winding us up. I thought he was better than that. Broadbent, good player, but a motormouth once again and the referee just kept speaking to him instead of taking action. We had a player sent off for taking out the kicker but just five minutes earlier we had the same happen to us and not so much as a penalty. It took a long list of infractions before he took action against Barrow, including two or three tackles with our players getting dumped on their heads.
But regardless of all this we should have beat this lot and we lost it ourselves and that is why the afternoon was so frustrating. From the imbecile mouthing off behind me to the idiot giving away penalties on the pitch and the idiot in the middle who lost control I was surrounded by stupidity.

I had the pleasure of sitting next to this loud mouth. Two rows infront there were 3 old women, whom when one turned round to complain he told them to eff off and sit in the family stand if they didnt like it. He even tried it with one of the stewards who he said had walked straight into his arm. People like him are a disgrace to the club. People pay good money to watch Widnes, not to listen to a gobby loud mouth commenting offensively on every action in the game.
People are entitled to let their frustrations known, but to do it constantly for 80 minutes is an absolute joke, especially as you say Chris, with young kids around. I think even this man's own son had got sick of him as he got up and didnt come back until the last 5 minutes.
Switching Paddy to full back was one of the main positives from the game. Peppered him with kicks and dealt with them very well. Think i saw Ford hobbling down the tunnel at half time which i presume was his hamstring again. We should really get Ainscough involved more, seems a real livewire when he has the ball.
Referee didnt have the best of games, but yet again a poor first half has come back to haunt us. We can't give teams like Barrow a 20 point start and expect to come back time and time again.
Doran, regardless of the amount work he puts in, I think we can all agree he is a penalty machine. Ill discipline cost us dear in the first half.
Glad to see Smith back and thought the inclusion of Lunt was a good call.
All in all, a game we could have won, just down to ill discipline, silly errors and possiblly some 50/50 calls from the referee.

Haha! I hope not. At one point this fool had a go at the old women and said "I've been watching these week in week out for 20 years!" Yeah. How long have these seventy year olds been watching now? It's as if all those around him were somehow fairweather fans, sat in the pouring rain watching a team of underachievers, and he was the only one in the ground worthy of being a widnes fan. I'd have thrown him out in a shot. A true widnes fan he may have been, but I wish he wasn't. We could do without him.

I recall him saying moments after Barrow's first try "And they wonder why i dont come to watch them anymore?" Quite frankly if all it takes is an early try by the opposition for him to stop coming, hes as true a Widnes fan as the Wire fan living next door to me. If he's going to complain about going home at half time because we aren't winning or going to give abuse to fans who have been watching the team since before he was born then I'd rather him stop coming all together. We can really do without these sort of so called "fans".

| We have ours too, so do Leigh, Barrow and the rest. I guess it's typical of the cross-section of society. The guy who annoyed you today will be arguing with a telephone exchange box somewhere in Runcorn tomorrow. How do these people earn money to put the clothes on their back let alone afford entry into the match? Thankfully the internet is probably beyond his capabilities

It always sounds like there are more of them than there are too, because if you're sat within 50 metres of one, you can hear him loud and clear. I reckon every club could evict around 15 of these fans and the problem would be largely solved. I'm just surprised, and annoyed, he wasn't sat near the barrow fans giving them stick. At least he'd have been thrown out then.

| It was a grey day indeed. To be honest for the first time I felt like getting up and walking out before half time. A mix of woeful incompetence from the referee and a fairly lethargic performance from the players just about did it for me.
Thackray can't do it all by himself but after today he'll hopefully have a foil... I'm fairly hopeful from the rave reviews I've had of this lad.
The first move of the match seemed to sum up the first half performance, Widnes once again failing to deal with a fairly straightforward kick off. I agree completely about Rooney. The lad is a big talent in this division and Barrow wouldn't be half the team without him. However I felt his gesturing to the crowd was completely uncalled for.
Our second half was better but we still seemingly managed to fluff at least three good attempts where we had men over but the player with the ball in hand refused to release it.
Flynn seems to be a revelation at full back.

| Just a quick reminder to everyone: generalised complaints about the state of affairs are okay but unfounded sick allegations are not helpful or welcome. If you have a genuine complaint against the fans of the club for things you claim people have said, go to the club. You wont achieve anything posting accusations like the ones I've just deleted here.

| no problem as it has already been reported, witnessed by the stewards and on CCTV. I think the fans on here should know that these idiots have been reported and what they have done. You absolutely right it was sick and Im sorry you found it so foul that you had to remove it.
I had a great day today with my two boys and I will leave it to the clubs to sort out, however I will be asking for updates from our club as this can not be allowed.

| In the league express it says that widnes are trying to identify fans who abused cullen at the end of the match. Are the fans beginning to turn against him or was it just a few idiots? 20-24? Not bad,you can't win every week.

| There are a section of the fans that I would argue were looking for a reason to have a go from day one. I wouldn't be surprised if this guy was one of them.
There is some unrest amongst others who are unwilling to accept the reasons given for our recent performances and are becoming disheartened.
There are still others like myself that think we have been dealt a fairly dreadful hand this year and it looks to get even worse with yet another player facing time on the sidelines.
I think its the manner of the defeats though that are getting on some people's wicks. Teams are racking up 20 - 30 point headstarts on us before we even get out of the blocks. The referee was woeful on Sunday but the gap that appeared for Barrow to score two very very very easy tries was so much worse.
The preparation going into the games definately needs looking at. Widnes need to try harder and focus for the opening 20 minutes.

| Chris, totally agree with you on the preparation and focus thing, perfect example being the kick off right at the
beginning of the game.It was a shocker that no-one seemed to want to take the ball on the full, pretty much summed up how we played that 1st forty ..As crap as the ref was,he didnt miss soft tackles etc etc..

Paul cullen is now saying any widnes fans who want to boo can go and watch warrington! But we don't boo anymore paul, and you are not coaching us anymore! The fans of your new team are starting to boo,so who is the problem Mr. Cullen? Take a look in the mirror PC. And make it a long........hard one.
