They have every right to be really but i feel even with our injuries we still have a very good team 1-17 and this will IMO be very close. I never expect anything but a win at home and Friday will be no different. Varks and possibly Heckenberg back into the 17 and things start looking up.
Plenty of noise needed on Friday too, nobody comes to our gaff and gets an easy ride!

| I can see how some of them would be confident because there top and our injury crisis, but one of them goes over the top saying our pack is poor. Gannon, Doran, Davies, Kavanagh, Gerrard and Houghton will crush them, plus Morrison won't take the ball in for them against his old club and big Jon will be hiding.

| Grayshon is doubtful, Morro will be pumped for this but we have 2 mean feckers in the front row in Jordan James and Jim Gannon. Plenty of fireworks but also a night to remember and reflect with the sad death this week.

| As you say, we have every right to be confident, but not over confident, and DP is guarding against just that. Anyone heading to your gaff expecting an easy ride will surely get their @rse handed to 'em, big time. Really looking forwards to the match tho, it should be a belter.

| I really do hope someone puts Morrison on his , well I mean he spent a lot of his time here getting knocked on his , so its only fair really. Really liked Morrsion, but thought he was totally ineffective at prop (where he seemed to play almost every game for us). Said it all really that he came to us in 2008 with the reputation that he's be one of the best 2nd rowers in the division, but McComic played him exclusively as a prop. Come World Cup time and McComic plays him in his proper position for Scotland. If McComic felt forced to play Morrison at prop, shouldn't that have told him something about a lack of props in our squad. He didn't even bother to rectify that problem for last years squad either.
And if Grayshon plays, he wants shooting after his final performance for us. Never seen such an awful performance from a player who was playing against his future employers. I can see Hardman having a good game against us. Really like the way Featherstone have Hardman joining the line of attack when they push it wide and its something we don't do a lot of ourselves. I remember Ford getting 4 tries against Gateshead, by joining the attack from fullback, but not seen a lot of it lately.
As per usual, I think that game will be won and lost in the pack. We have a tendancy to let teams run on to us and we fail to put them under any kind of pressure. Conversely, we can be a bit slow at the play the ball and often struggle to make the hard yards. Hulme adds a bit of spark coming forward so if the forwards can get on top maybe he can be the one to take advantage.

| Really?
You've said both Duffy and Morrison were pants for us on here lately yet last season without the two we struggled... think we only lost that play off game when Morro played, great championship player!

Do you really think so?? Crush them??
I admire your confidence. Fev have played against the big (Fax) and the mobile (Barrow) and defeated both denying each a Bp and dominating the forwards.
Of course, Friday is another day and I've watched rovers for too many years to know it never pays to be over-confident. They'll be no "country mile" sheeite coming out of rovers!!
But I'm just genuinely interested to hear what evidence you base that statement on?? How do you think you will win the forward battle and [u "crush"[/u the fev pack??

| Seems us fev lot are been allocated tickets in north stand. Im pretty sure we was in south stand for play offs last year, any reason why we cant be stuck together behind a set of sticks? Makes atmosphere a lot better when away fans are seated together.

| Cos you don't bring more than 200, in this league only gets open for Leigh (IMO not due to numbers). The extra cost of stewards, bar staff, turnstile staff, isn't worth it!

It's bad for both sets of fans when just told to go in and sit wherever, as like you say you want to be with your lot giving the game a good atmosphere!

Crush was a bit over the top, i was just responding to the guy on totalrl saying are pack was poor. Our pack are no push overs and when Gannon and Doran are on the pitch at the same time I am confident of winning the forward battle. The evidence will be on show on friday.

Your right it will be a cracker. I think the fev players and club should get a minutes applause at full time as well as the minutes silence pre game for the recent tragic time.

I think the game will be won at half back myself.According to the commentary at Warrington in the cup game, the Rovers halves, not sure who,Briggs and Flynn?Played a very well structured and organised game, guiding the team around the park with good passing and kicking.Hoping from big games from Webster and Thacks.

| Just joking about morrison. We all know from his time at widnes he was a machine. He just went through a stage where he got knocked out about 4 matches in a row and from then on did not look the same player maybe it was confidence thing or just needed a break.

I don't think Morrison is poor, in fact I did say in my post "Really liked Morrsion" IMO the reason why we struggled in the pack last year was we had players like Ostick and Morrison in the front row who were too lightweight. Gannon was left to carry that pack a lot of the time and he's hardly a heavyweight himself. Morrison is a great 2nd rower, probably one of the best in the division, but surely there's no denying he struggled to make an impact from prop. Are you sure we lost just 1 game when Morrision played? we did lose about 13 games all in all last year. As for the Duffy comments I made of the Leigh board, I know he was a popular player with a lot of Widnes fans, but I just didn't rate him. He seemed to be injured a lot, came off the pitch injured a lot and was no way near fit enough to play his position - no wonder he ended up at loose forward a lot. Credit where credit is due, he played really well in the NRC final, but tbh I probably wouldn't have even had him in the squad because of his performances in the run up to the final.
Quote ="Cartman"

'"
It wasn't a dig at Ford, more team tactics really. I'm not saying we don't do it at all. As proven in certain games for us and from watching other teams, it does work. Ford did the same thing against Whitehaven when he pulled up. If he hadn't have pulled up injured, there was a good chance we'd have broke and scored. Thats the point I was making there are the odd occasions where we have the FB join the attack but its not very often. For example can you ever remember Yates joining in the attack (from FB) out wide and us creating an overlap? I know Yates isn't Ford, but surely whilst Ford was injured we would have been covering the same attacking moves in training? Anyways, now that Ford (and Webbo) are fit again, I'm sure we'll be all the better for it. With the amount of chopping and changing we've had to do recently, its bound to have an effect on PC's tactics and the execution of moves.
