Damian Munro, Paul Alcock and Paul Ballard also played for Blackpool.

Leather is a good player and a local lad, i would have him at FB and Fordy in the centre, he swooped Championship 1 player of the year too. One we should be looking at IMO.

Jonny Leather has come on in leaps and bounds since he joined the professional game.

A very good young amateur player who maybe didnt get the chance he felt he deserved at Widnes in his favoured position.

Interesting to compare him against Yacca now from when Leather was forced onto the wing in the 18's and 21's as it was then.

You see that quite a lot tbh, the likes of Peter Fox who was released pretty sharply yet imo is the best British winger in the game.

At the lower levels Yates was probablly ahead of Leather but now it seems he has excelled ahead.

I always thought Leather was a very capable player even at u18s at St Maries in that team that won the league but seems to have gone on to progress very well while at Blackpool. It will be interesting to see how well he can keep developing, he's obviously still young and finally seems to be getting some recognition.

Is leather living in widnes?I think he be worth signing even if back up to Ford?Yates is not good enough as makes too many mistakes.I thought ainscough was also good at widnes and did not do much wrong.It amazes me how some players get released.

you tried to sign him in the off season but he doesnt want to come back, more than happy for now at blackpool, however if we don't go up this year he will most probably leave, he really has been a revelation while at panthers, and a decent goal kicker to boot.

Depends what was offered, why should he want to come back say as "back up to ford", if he is recognised as one of the best is his league, and is getting the recognition, he may view that as a step backward, if he is as good and determined to get to the top as some of the super league players of the past were, this season may make a big difference and a massive learning curve. I think you can learn a lot more a lot quicker playing in a lower league, and in some ways it is a lot tougher. Good luck to Blackpool for the rest of the season also.
