Any comments on him?

All I would say is... he turned down an offer from Widnes expecting to be snapped up by a SL club... he ended up at Rochdale where he has been since.

I think that says it all really. No better than what you have already... unless you are going to do a Salford and claim him as your own and publicise that you brought him through the Academy etc

Unfair id say. The offer from Widnes was pants and I think he was let down by SL clubs after that.

Still good enough for this league. Been standing out down at Rochdale.

I love watching Dave Houghon but Ozzy is further ahead development wise (...I appreciate he is somewhat older).

Tries hard but just not big enough, his defence can also be dodgy at times. In one of his last games for us - the play-off against Whitehaven, he was awful and his missed tackles on our line lead to 2 Whitehaven tries and very nearly cost us the game.

Plently of promise though and should go well in a decent team.

We offered him a reduced contract. Did you read V4E's post? He said he would go well for you.

If your having a pint by the side of the pitch just keep your eye on it as he's a renowned mine - sweeper when he's warming up lol.

IMO he started last season like a house on fire, but his form over the season was up and down. That could have just been due to the fact he is/was young and inexperienced at 1st team level. At Widnes last year, for a lot of the time he was playing in a weak pack, which wasn't ideal and he should have also matured a little more from last year. There's is no reason why he can't make a go of it, but I guess there still must be a question mark over his size and consistancy to perform at this level. He will probably turn out to be a decent player in a few years but from what we saw last year, he either won't make it because of his size or may just take him a few more seasons before he's fully matured. Who knows at this stage?

Would I have him here now? Yes of course. Would I have wanted him if we Had Pickersgill, Haggerty, Kavanagh, Houghton and Davies all fit? Not especially. Decent signing, but probably won't much difference to the Fax squad - I suppose at the very least he gives competition for places, which maybe what the Fax squad needs the most.

I agree with what you are saying, but looking at the props at fax,he is no better than what they have got.He showed promise but never hardly broke the line and is not a big prop.He will do ok for fax and wish him luck.But not luck against Widnes.What i can not understand is he is living in Widnes, and is travelling a distance.Unless he is fulltime now?

Fax is only an hour away, most players at this level travel across the pennines for their clubs, Fax only train 3 times a week it was said as well so hardly worth packing bags for as this will be at night also and guess his job will be around here!

I don't think there are any full time players anymore in this league tbh (well officially), only thing close is those employed by their clubs in the community department!

He's decent, but I wonder what effect the last six months has had on his game.

With players like Aizue and Wrench around him though, he should be able to pick up some things.

hope we loose the two games next week so they is some changes at our club

Good player , but I'd see him as a second row more than prop . His pace and size are more suited to it more the prop. Will do well at Fax.

Ozzie’s OK. He does give 100%, and I’m sure you’ll appreciate his on-the-field effort. However, he had some off-the-field issues last season






and his form went out of the window.

As has been pointed out already, he isn’t big enough for a prop and would be much better if played in the back row.

Back row is just where he's needed.

Larder and Wrench are getting a liitle old and Bannister hasn't yet delivered.
