Spoke to Gavin last night at the player awards, he has not signed a new contract for next year. Sad to see him go ,as he gives 100%, but good luck to him and thanks for all his efforts, this season.

Real shame about Doddy but life is sometimes cruel, never a world beater but one player you can guarantee will give 100% every week. He will always get a warm reception when he comes back and he does feel like family he's been that good. Gutted to see him go but i have full faith in the club for recruitment next year.

Doddy said he has been released by the club.He has done a great job but it seems we are signing dual code superleague players.Hope doddy finds a team and wish him all the best.

Gavin is one player who is guranteed to come back and haunt us, I am not impressed with the road we seem to be heading down, one bit, what happens when the parent club wants their players back due to injury as happened with picks and penny this season ?

I think the way that the dual registration will work could mean that a player could play on Friday night for one team and then on a Sunday for the other team if they were physically able to do so. It is supposed to provide full flexibility. How well this will work we will wait and see but I share your scepticism alanc to an extent.

People already moan that the players play too many games, can't see any player being able to do that more than a couple of times.

He normally re-signs with us late. I wouldn't be surprised if he signed again for another season.

I`d be gutted if big Doddy goes as he gives 101% .

I understand what your saying alan mate.I like doddy but we not know the ins and outs of what is going on.The best way would be for the fans to go down in a batch and ask at the club?We maybe talking to players and maybe getting players on a years loan and cant go back for that year.We maybe told by the rfl that we need 6 or 7 youngsters in the playing squad?We do not know the terms dodd wanted?He may have wanted far more than he is worth.Anyway what ever team is out i will soldier on and support my team.Yes we as a club should be competing to win this league and ste o connor did say go to full cap.

So whose reserves would you most like to be then. I'd much rather achieve success by hard graft than buying it.

If it's a temporary measure until we are promoted then it doesn't really bother me. My attitude has changed dramatically. We have the set-up at the club to do well in SL should we reach it. Failure to reach SL will mean that another crop of good young Widnes players will be lost and all that previous investment wasted.

If that means bringing through some quality players from SL teams to encourage and support the increased number of youngsters next year then so be it. It's all a means to an end..

The way that you are going at the moment you won't see any success and it smacks of hypocrisy to talk about not wanting to buy success whilst your club is seeking dispensation to spend double what the rest of the clubs in your division are spending...
