I would be happy with that, done pretty decent with wire and has a good media guile through working with sky.

Don't know if you saw the same news piece that I did, but I think it actually meant this week. It mentions Widnes playing Blackpool on Sunday and then announcing the new coach the following week - i.e. this week. As far as I know the closing date for the applications isn't until this Friday, so I very much doubt we will hear anything this week.


I would prefer someone other than Cullen, but if it is him then so be it. As I've said on the TIW site, I think Widnes fans want to be excited and wowed by the new coach coming in. If he does get appointed Cullen might turn out to be the best thing to happen to Widnes in a long time, but I just don't think the average fan will see it that way. People want someone who is viewed as a bit special like Hanley, Millward or basically any coach with decent NRL experience. I just hope Widnes don't go for someone because its the easy option i.e. no baggage or travelling costs etc. Even though certain coaches may cost more or there might be more complicated arrangements in getting people over here that should take very much take a back seat and the best quality coach should get the job.

Pressuming Cullen does get the job, IMO he'd have to make a big impact straight away or people would probably start to make comparisons with Steve McCormack.

Millward would have been awesome but alas..

I would also at this point be quite happy with Stankevitch who I have been impressed with in his handling of matters both on and off the pitch.

Get in there. Very happy if this is true.

As the closing date for applicants is this Friday and if the club have already decided that Cullen is the best for the job they can get sued by everyone that has applied for the position as they have not been given a fair chance at getting the job.

Happens in all types of businesses, as long as nothings announced till after the deadline and applicants have been vetted

Hmm interesting one. I'm sure when he was at Wire you guys were calling him all over the place. Imo he's a decent coach, a decent bloke who basically outstayed his welcome at our club.
I really hope he gets the Widnes job because a more honest and passionate man you won't find. He just maybe wasn't cut out for coaching the top sides.
Look where he took us from in 02 to around 05/06, sometimes that's forgotton.
He's definately the right man for you guys.
