Yes we did concede 30 to Gateshead but if you look it from another point of view we then scored 46 points to 6. If we had started off like that you would have been looking at probably 60 or 70 points.

Did anyone else think there was more than 5200 there last night. I remember when we were in SL and we played Wakefield on SKY and the crowd was announced as arouund 5200. IMO there was alot more there than the Wakefield game last night.

i thought there were more than 5200 - i was bit gobsmacked at that, expected it to be 6000, there were loads there

In fairness, there were only two stands open and there was a lot of space in both the North and South Stands towards the East (I know this as I sat in both stands last night and therefore counted twice on the attendance

I thought we panicked a little when staging the come back in the second half,trying to score on every set.Webster,Thackray,Gannon,Doran and Duffy were superb.I liked the wide,deep passing with players receiving the ball with space to move instead of this flat nonsense with players getting nailed as soon as they get the ball.

Thackeray was very good last night, his pace and footwork caused Gateshead plenty of problems when he came on.

Far more effective in the middle of the park, though I thought Webster looked pretty disinterested again.

Like I said in a earlier post coming back from 24-0 down could be the turning point for you guys confidence is a big thing its ok having the quality but if you dont have the confidence is no good.

Oddly enough I thought he was the best player on the pitch in that second half, Matt.




The pack where on top with a quick PTB and he marshalled them round well.

Strange performance really because there where some completely contrasting performances from some players.

We saw possibly the return of the Doran of old in the second half but his worst in the first half getting bumped off tackles and an amazing penalty to concede to reverse the scrum even by his standards.

Likewise Thackery. Makes a difference when he comes on in attack but the Thunder try in the second half that he and Paddy Flynn conjured to concede was awful.

Id have Penny in the side any day of the week now. Made a hash of the easiest kick he could have returned but apart from that the pace was exciting. I was surprised he didnt finish his chance in the first half when he threw the ball back on the inside to Thackery but overally his enthusiasm especially when we forced an error from Gateshead was contagious.

Thought Doddy had a good game too. We continually bag him as being 'dodgy' but more often than not he comes up trumps.

Still problems to address but fingers crossed we might be slowly turning things round and into a side that Cull wants.

Was sat in the northstand and your coach was sat behind me for the 1st half.Then at half time a few of your fans came and sat in front of me and one of the chaps even predicted that we would come back and win it because gateshead looked tired.

I have to say that gateshead played some cute rugby early doors there kicking game was spot on in the 1st half and we struggled to get a grip of the game.Also the atmosphere was brilliant i aint been to a game were we have got behind our boys like that for a long time.

It made my drive back home to london a whole lot sweeter than i thought it was going to be after 30 mins of the game.I would like to say a massive thank you 2 both teams for putting on an incredible game and some great entertainment.
