| Quote ="Fevxr2i"Well played Widnes!
Played the conditions and game tremendous for 69 minutes then played you'd never ever played the game before for the last 11 - however those last 11 minutes paper over a lot of cracks for us
I would be a bit worried by how badly you caved in once we got our first try, if it had happened 10 mins previously it might have been different but overall we were terrible and didnt deserve anything from the game
Maybe we will get a chance for revenge in another round.
Special mention to your fans, like the players turned up for 69 minutes then were a bit quiet for the last 11, plenty of you there though who sang their hearts out'"
A good sport here, but not on the Fax board saying a U12s team would have beaten us in the last 12 minutes. Typical Yorkshire puddings.

| Cracking win! Forwards were immense and that hit from kavanagh on dickens was a peach. We have a very strong squad this year and what looks like a real good team spirit, couldn't pick a mom as they all played together very well.
Up the Vikings!

Played well and another full 80 for him, put in some nice kicks to take the pressure from thacks. The fitter he gets the better he gets with nev.

| Obviously the MIGHTY Leigh would have beaten Fev by a bigger margin !!
Only joking guys, great win. Didn't expect that, espescially after they won at Barrow.
My family hail from Widnes, so I do 'love' you lot, except when you beat us.
Used to have 'many a pint' in the black horse, now it's some bl00dy restaurant.

| Can't fault that performance at all...
The defence was immense, aggressive and well organised. Quagmire of a pitch but we adapted to the conditions really well.
One thing in particular is well worthy of a mention and that was our ball handling. Despite the ball being completely covered in mud it still didn't stop us putting it through a number of hands when we were in attack and you could count on the fingers of one hand the number of times that we knocked on. This certainly contributed to our win.
Thacks was in there in the middle of things getting really stuck in and proving that he doesn't just operate on hard surfaces and his intercept try was potentially the game winner for me relieving us from quite a bit of pressure. Although we are still in need of a SH I thought Coyle really took the game to Fev with his running. He was a complete nuisance and I thought he had a really good game.
As has been mentioned the forwards were dominant and Kav in particular stood out for me.
Grady??? what can you say... superb try to get us rolling and then some terrific defence. My MOM this week.
Not worried about the last 15 minutes (although I was nervous).. the game was well won and in control until the referee took Fev from their 20 to our 10 with three very dubious penalties for their first try. If anything considering the amount of pressure that came our way then, the defence actually did a very good job. Offsides, holding down.. he peppered us with everything at the end and the lads were obviously tired but did enough to keep the win.
As mentioned by OFFTHECUFF we have some very good options this year and two big game props in Haggerty and Sculthorpe to come into that side. A creative half in L'Anson and players facing real competition for places like Ford, Craven and Lealui.

| Coyle is a frustrating little git, when he wants to play rugby he's great and has some very good skills but his temperament lets him down. He can get a little hot headed and give away some stupid pens. Its pretty obvious that Grady has now found his position at Second Row and has been outstanding in recent weeks. Big raps also to Tyrer last night as they peppered his area a few times and his defence was spot on.

Coyle... spot on! Luckily I think we have seen a bit more of the good side of his persona this season and I think that there is a time and a place for the other side too. He is still a little indecisive but a good option.
Tyrer was great and his kicking game gives you some real confidence going into games. Nice effort on the Depeche Mode / Tyrer song. I think it may have been J20 (your anonymity is ruined by your pictures on Twitter ) and his band cranking that out all night.

Cheers, mate! Just had a look over reactions on your TotalRL board and all reads pretty similar. Thought we were exceptional in defence and maybe should of scored more points in the first half and nearly had one / two in the 2nd. You have to credit Featherstone as you did keep going to the end, and I think that missed kick (Finn?) made heads drop slightly as couldn't win the game and we found that extra effort in defence again. Enjoyed the day (bar the bizzare people of Wakey ). See you again next time around and all the best this season

Yeah he played very well. He didn't do the full 80 though as Chris Gerrard came on for him for a 10 min spell after about an hour.
The tackle by Kurt Haggerty with a minute left was a game saver.
Kavanagh was superb and Varks did well again despite Dickens trying to rough him up.
Tyrer's defence was good and he didn't seem too bothered by J20's mob singing cringy Celtic songs about him

| Some players have improved beyond all recognition from last season, to the point where they hardly seem to be the same players. With some very good players due back from injury, we cannot help but get better and better. It’s starting to look pretty good. I think, by the Barrow game (25 April), we’ll know for sure if we will be likely contenders for the Grand Final.

| Chris i am glad you are positive like me about our squad.I think we can win the league, and as i said mate we still have two good props to come back in contention. With having a good squad, we can rest players and put others in just as good.If we get an injury to any of the backs, we have cover and in the forwards aswell.I know people worry if Thacks got injured, but we have I,Anson,Coyle, and Gore who can play halfback. If anything got drastic Craven can go at standoff.Flynn,Ropati, and Craven can play fullback so i have no fear.Young Jack Owens is quality and i also have a feeling we have some space left on the cap.

| Not that you've ever heard of a Widnes fan that is obsessed with scrum-halves, but I think the form of I'Anson and indeed Netherton (not forgetting Coyle / Gore / Lunt) at 9 will be crucial to our hopes of winning anything this year.

| the left side on a whole made about 10 try saving tackles in the last 10 mins at 1 point tyrer and coyle were over on the right side covering then tracked by to there side and kicked the ball out of play and the full time whistle went, betts defo getting the best out of tyrer now with even more to come from him yet in my opinion, ropati is also getting better by the game,we could now go on a good undefeated run
