Quote ="Redchemic"Remember it well mbb. I can recall Davidson kicking off at Naughton Park and Paul Hulme piling into him. The Hulmes weren't classic 'hardmen' but were tough nuts who would never take a backward step - whether that marks them as hardmenwho knows - it puts it as a distinct possibility.'"
Think it was the third test v Australia at Sydney - the one we won. Paul started at Hooker and Dave was on the bench IIRC at 14. I remember getting up that day at 6am with my dad specifically to watch it as both they and Offiah were playing. They never took a backward step that day - Yomma was particularly immense and out a top shift in as ever. Loved the pair of them and still do. Dave always got the customary "Wiiiiiiiidnes!" out the car window whenever I used to drive past him whilst he was pounding the streets of WA8. He wasn't just hard Yomma but versatile too - scrum half, hooker, second row and loose.
If only we had a Hulme playing for us now.
