I suppose its money but do we as supporters want our team going into any game so depleted it becomes a replica of Castleford and Salford.
Its nonsense to even consider playing so they should call it off later today.

| Quote Super League clubs have been warned by the RFL that potential points deductions could occur if they call off matches in an attempt to gain an unfair advantage.
12 games have been postponed so far in 2021, with two of Sunday’s games called off under COVID protocols.
The Rugby Football League’s chief regulatory officer, Karen Moorhouse said there would be “significant sanctions” if clubs were attempted to gain an advantage.
“Clearly not fulfilling a match is a breach of the operational rules,” Moorhouse said.
“If there was any suggestion that they had done that to gain any sort of advantage there could be significant additional sanctions imposed.
“The range of sanctions by an operational rules tribunal range from a fine but could also include a deduction of points as an extreme example.
“This idea that a club would deliberately pick and choose which matches to play is just not the case. There would be significant compliance sanctions if anyone tried to go down that route.”'"

| If the club has indeed been hit by Covid and we meet the criteria then the game should rightly called off. The question is why has RL been hit so much recently with Covid cases? Has there been a failure in the protocols? I must admit I was very surprised when in Leeds on Saturday to see a number of Rhinos players along with a player from another SL team out at a bar on Call Lane with the current situation.
I know fixtures have to try to be met as much as possible but what damage are they doing to the product and reputation of SL by doing so?

I don’t think this is helpful.
Firstly, they just need to decide whether the RL World Cup us on or being moved back to next year. Then they can confirm the timescales available to clubs.
Then they need to stick to their own Covid guidelines. Either games get postponed and hopefully re-scheduled, or the games must be played regardless of the number if players are available.
As for penalising clubs, we’ll if so, let’s make sure all games to date are reviewed to see if any club was trying to gain an advantage?
As I’ve mentioned before, all the above is unnecessary. Let’s postpone the World Cup to 2022 now (it’s inevitable that Australia and NZ will not be able to travel). Then let’s extend the season and play the Grand Final at the end of November. That gives all clubs an extra six weeks to complete all it fixtures in front of crowds and therefore player welfare and club finances will be protected.

| The RFL won't postpone the WC until teams from the southern hemisphere say they won't be playing.

I think considering the current situation in Australia with infections on the rise and that’s with then having their boarders closed then the likelihood of them participating is slim if any at all. Without Australia and/or New Zealand the. There really is little point in pushing ahead with the WC. Waiting and waiting until last minute for me is another pointless situation for the organisers to put themselves in. The most sensible approach would be to make the decision now to postpone it, delaying what is likely to be inevitable is crazy. Concentrate on the club rugby and let all nations do the same so that they are still clubs and players in the game for future world cups to come.
Club rugby has to come before the international game as without the clubs the sport is dead.

I agree, this will be the RFL’s likely stance.
However, until then chaos will pursue with each set of fixtures. Clubs scrambling to get fixtures on with squads finalised hours before games and fans not knowing if a fixture is going to go ahead.
This weeks Derby is a classic example. We could have played last week against a very depleted Rovers side; or we could field a very depleted side against a stronger Rovers side this Thursday in front of 4,000 fans. Likely the game will be postponed and shoehorned into an already congested fixture list with a three day turnaround for both clubs.
Alternatively, the season is extended and the game is re-cheduled in the future on its own weekend, with both teams having stronger squads to choose from and played in front of a full house.

| The RFL said last week that a decision on the WC would be taken "in the next couple of weeks".
They really can't be seen to be the ones postponing/cancelling the tournament.
I guess RFL bashing is the latest craze.

IMO the WC is not going ahead for fans at the very least (and if it goes ahead it'll be under a medical apartheid system), the way things are going the stadiums won't be be fully open this season, I hope I'm wrong but that carrot is going to be removed by Johnson before MPs go on their summer break and won't be reopening anything post their return in september.
More and more games will be cancelled iwith the continued testing regime.
Make the most of the games you can get to.

Well that in the end isn't their fault and no doubt the move will be made to defer the tournament from down under. But they do seem to be getting themselves into a real mess on several fronts. Like the apparent moving feast that is the rules on Covid protocols, the fixture pile up and how to solve it, the lack of any attempt to realign the RFL with Super league and to lead the game to pull together to survive, the allocation across the game of Government loans, lack of Clarity over lower division funding levels after the new Sky deal was done, their feet dragging on an independent review of the whole game because no doubt they are afraid of what it might unearth etc etc and this isn't just us moaning buggers either as they do appear to be getting some real stick from within the game as owners and coach chime in. This week we heard from the Batley Coach Craig Linguard who was really critical on the lack of clarity on funding jepardising the future of some Championship nd Division One clubs. For me, we need a new leader and a combined effort to save the game for it is now in a parlous position. A lot of folks inside the game across a lot of clubs believe it will only take one club to fold for it to start a domino effect.

I agree, the game needs a shake up and new leadership of one aligned organisation.
Saying that, the game’s never had a common sense approach. I can remember in one season (1982 or 1983?) due to our Cup runs, we had a major backlog of fixtures and threatened to play two games simultaneously. However, the RFL wouldn’t allow us to play beyond a certain date and we just had to get on with it.

| I think the sensible decision has been made with regards the game to push it back again if players have been affected by the virus. Its unfortunate but a sensible approach has been taken. At present I think the only option the game has is to extend the season to be able to complete the season.
