Paul hatton back and in charge of strength and rehab. I don't know much about him or the work he's done but I can't say I looked at rovers last season and felt particularly impressed with their fitness and size/strength. Does anyone know if he's any good?

Micro management at its finest, just shows how the club's hierarchy ,value the influence of backroom staff.

I guess "....with a new team to be appointed to work directly under him." is best ignored when criticising the club (yet again).

I'm not too thrilled about this tbh. Hull had their worst injury crisis when he was here under Sharp. The dobbins injury record when he was there was pretty dreadful too. Plus we saw such magnificently conditioned athletes like Costigan turned out under his watch. I can only hope he has learned from the past.

Agreed - uninspiring. Particularly when our fitness and conditioning have been pretty good the last couple of years.

Ours has been noticeably shocking for a few years and was one of the areas the fan base has criticised and called for change. We have looked knackered after the warm up at times. Whether that is a conditioning team issue or a player attitude issue is up for debate.

Indeed. Although whatever Radford's faults, I doubt allowing a soft pre season conditioning regime is one of them.

I suppose its a balance between not being too easy and not being too tough, I have heard ours was classed as too easy (easier than Wigan etc) by a lot of the on loan players. Will be interesting to see if a new team makes a noticeable difference next year.

It's all good. No professional in this industry has a static skill set. He's sure to be better now than he ever has been in the past. Also, he's got more RL experience than the last physio.

Sharp was quoted as saying he employed Paul Hatton 'because the players enjoyed training under him'.
Maybe Lee Radford expresses a similar philosophy ?

I'm hoping he rates Justin Carney and has got the casting vote!!

I would presume he will be under the direction of Radford anyway ?
If LR wants a tough pre-season, it will be Hattons job
to provide it.

Fitness itself isn't an issue. We seemed a fit strong side. I know players had concerns regarding the previous conditioner that it wasnt rugby specific enough.
Conditioning will be massively important in terms of doing it right.
Got a lot of young guys that need some added size. Forwards goes without saying.
Mainly I'm thinking logan. But his needs to be done right. It can't come at the expense of his current attributes

The biggest worry with Hatton is the injury crisis that seems to follow him around. As for size as has been said it needs to be done right - we don't want size distributed in a Costigan or Blair fashion.

Both those players didn't exactly show up for pre-season in Adonis-like condition and then slowly turn into walking sacks of potatoes under Hatton's control did they?

You'd prefer the Abdul fashion then.

who ever is in charge the players have got to buy into the system,imo abdull needs to shred a few pounds which I think he will,think he will be a star for us

Blair was out of shape well before he met Hatton.

A lot of Rovers fans have bemoaned our lack of fitness, size and strength recently, whether that's anything to do with Hatton who knows.
