It is interesting that after giving the job to the last three managers that have not really won anything before being Liverpool manager and never got Liverpool up at the top (apart from the one season but think that was more down to Luis Suárez) they have decided to spend the big bucks on a proven manager who has won titles.

Will be interesting to see how they go from here.

It shows the ambition of different premier league clubs doesn't it when Liverpool get in one of the worlds great coaches and Sunderland get in big Sam the gravy man. Hull city v Sunderland in the championship next year then.

You think Klopp would entertain Sunderland? The media have built him into some type of Ferguson figure, he can pick his own job outside champions league clubs.

Will certainly be interesting. Liverpool appear to have gotten a manager out of the top drawer this time which is a real statement on their part. Time will tell whether it is successful or not but Klopp appears to be a major upgrade on their previous choices. IMO Hodgson got the job on the back of one good Europa League campaign, Dalglish was out of the game too long, and it was probably too early for Rodgers to take on such a job.

Obviously it's different sports but if Klopp is successful at Liverpool then I think it is something we should take note of should we have any ambitions of achieving success. At the moment we keep going for Rodgers types with our head coach appointments.

The 3 most successful SL sides have all made "Rodgers" appointments. Cunningham, Macdermot and Wane weren't winning titles overseas before their currents jobs.

saints, wigan and leeds have all had experienced coaches in the recent past who laid the groundwork and set up the systems and processes that the 3 coaches you mention have all benefited from
