Club have never really given him a chance, played well in his first season here and did well at Cas before that but has been overlooked ever since for some reason.
Problem he has now is that so many decent youngsters are coming through in the centres and wings plus we have Sa and Talanoa who will start often as well so I think Arundel is simply surplus to requirements.

It would be good if the situation , ie , nobody can afford him so he's staying here , has been accepted by everyone and the contract size etc can be put to one side. He can then just be another young squad player fighting for a place on level terms with the rest. He just might fulfill his potential on that basis. Maybe that's why the club have reintegrated him quietly without any fuss or promises , if indeed they have? Pretty weird that they used him as a representative of the club at the SL Christmas launch though.

He has been in the gym training with the squad this week.
Obviously on a very good contract paying him more than he is probably worth as a player but who wouldn't sign that.
Feel a bit sorry for him in his situation, seems a nice kid lets hope he comes through for us, and if not, give him a chance elsewhere.

It was whilst the rest of the squad were in Portugal, IIRC.

I noticed he was among some big names to from other SL clubs at the Christmas launch.

Still like him to be given the same chance as everybody else

Don't think its possible though, it's obvious we haven't included him in our cap budget. A year on dual reg at Donny I reckon, he probably even has too large a salary for him to be loaned out from the beginning of the year.

I remember seeing Arundal at the fans forum when he first signed, he looked a gaunt and not much on him,i think his injury at cas took a lot out of him both physically and mentally. To some extent I agree he did not get a real chance but to be fair he was awful in defence. When he bulked up he looked a different player and I stlll believe he could have done a job for us if given a run but the Club needed to play who they thought could do better.I am surprised he has not gone and that can only be a wage thing ,why take a cut?

It's a shame that the club and him couldn't come to a mutually beneficial agreement over his salary - maybe restructure his contract over a longer term but still pay him the same amount. He's a talented player with some flaws in his game but it isn't his fault we threw a stupid deal his way and it's a shame that a young player has effectively been frozen out of the game.

It is a difficult situation for all concerned but IMO the club can't really be blamed for how they are dealing with it.

Arundel clearly has a ridiculous contract relative to his current ability (so ridiculous you wonder who benefitted from it). The club is doing the right thing by him by honouring his contract. but to play him - and thus have him on the salary cap - would clearly not be in the best interests of the club, as we would be "wasting" in the region of £70k in salary cap (if for arguments sake Arundel is worth 35k but is earning over 100k.)

For Arundel to play at Hull or elsewhere he might need to take a pay cut. Who would want to do that? But by sticking with his contract he won't be able to play. It speaks volumes that no club will take him when I'm sure we would bite their hand off to pay at least half the salary ourselves.

Yes they did give him a chance. He was a crap signing and we got what we bought. Never performed in the games he played in.
