THREE CHANGES TO SQUAD TO FACE SALFORD

Head coach Lee Radford has made a trio of changes to the preliminary squad that will prepare to face Salford Red Devils at the AJ Bell Stadium on Saturday evening.

Jordan Rankin has returned from his period away from the Airlie Birds and immediately finds a spot back in Radford’s sides set to travel across the Pennines this weekend.

Winger Tom Lineham also makes his return to the preliminary squad and will hope to feature in the Super League clash, after missing out on last weekend’s BIG Night Out against Warrington at the KC Stadium.

Radford’s final addition to the squad is 24-year old prop Chris Green, who after a solid run of games on dual registration at Featherstone Rovers will hope to make his first Super League appearance this season for the Black and Whites.

The most notable absentee from the selection is club captain Gareth Ellis who has been ruled out of the fixture through injury.

Ellis has played in of the Airlie Birds Super League matches this season, excluding the reverse fixture against Salford at the KC Stadium back in late March.

Chris Tuson also misses out on Saturday’s trip with a neck injury suffered in last Friday’s clash keeping him side-lined, whilst Richard Whiting will also be disappointed to drop out of Lee Radford’s preliminary squad.

Finally Jacob Miller has been made available for selection for Doncaster, as part of the dual registration between the two clubs.

The second row is looking a bit problematic. Sa can play there, as can Thompson but we're not looking great. Surprise Turgut inclusion?

With news of Tuson & now Ellis missing from the squad I thought Whiting would have been given a chance in the 17? Would seem his days with us are numbered under the present Coach.

Can't say I've seen that much from Tuson this season for him to get such glowing raps from Radford, for me he doesn't offer a great deal except a bit of grunt but then misses chunks of the season injured.

Looking at the 19 I would have put Whiting in there and have him on the bench for his value to the team in terms of ability, utility and what he brings as he is one of the few in the squad that has a brain.

Why no whiting? Has he given radford a funny look or something?

Massive game for us this. I reckon wakey will win tonight and go above us and a salford win will see them level on points with us and Hull looking down the barrel of a 3rd from bottom finish which is no way acceptable IMO.

No Whiting, what a joke. Tuson stealing a living off us. Hadley got dropped soon as Tuson was fit again as well.

tuson is the new radrford to be fair so it's understandable. Needs to perfect his standing quietly behind the sticks with his hands on his hips blowing snot out of his nose though

Tinkerman strikes again. I wonder what his thinking is at times as I think a lot of us do. I also fear the squad wonder at times as well.

This game as has been said is an absolute must win. Other than Bradford and London we are in the worst form of all those out of the 8. My faith in Mr Radford which wasn't high last November is plummeting the depths at the moment.

Its never dull though is it.

Looks like Tom Lineham will play,Sa moved to the second row and Talanoa to centre.
I would also give Green a run in the second row.
By leaving out Whiting that shows the writing is on the wall for his Future at the club.Again a player with some flair ousted for grunt.
Personally think this will be our Hudderfield game from last season with a heavy defeat.
As pointed out its likely now we will finish 3rd from bottom given the current form of Wakefield and Salford.
How can Pearson accept that when he sacks a coach who despite a horrific injury list took the team to a challenge cup final and 6th in the league.
This current side under Radford are still clueless in the opposition 20.

radford not my choice as i stated last year would have kept gentle,but am prepared to back him for now, dont think we will make top 8 but you never know, the lads will have my full support sat,

It's not the players he's choosing it's that whoever he picks they're not playing as well as you'd expect week in, week out

I know stats aren't everything but Whiting's & Tuson's are pretty similar with Tuson edging a few & Rich taking a few. The only main difference is that Rich has scored 4 tries to Chris's 0 that in 1 more game Rich has given away 3 times as many penalties.

Yes but Whiting has the ability to change a game.
I'm no Radford fan and wonder what has prompted Whiting's fall from favour.

As a Salford fan I am pleased to see Whiting omitted and doubly pleased if Richard Horne misses out.

I'm not saying you're wrong but Whiting has played 12 games so far this season, how many has he changed?
