Sad to hear about the serious illness of our former captain Greg Mackey.

A great player and of course he lifted the Premiership Trophy in 1991.

The Premiership trophy is before my time as an FC fan , but I had the pleasure of meeting Greg at a reunion do at the KC and snuck along on a behind the scenes tour of the stadium he was given by Johnny Whiteley. Lovely guy and I wish him all the best

Terrible news and I hope that he can overcome this terrible illness against all the odds. Oh for a Mackey/Entat combination in the halves again.

What we would give to have his like back at the club. One of our best I think

One of the best days in over 30 years supporting FC, seeing Greg lift that trophy in 1991. Thinking of Greg and his family and wishing him well!!

Awful news. A great player, absolutely gave everything in every game for us.

He was my favourite FC player when I started supporting the club, a real terrier in the halves, marvellous partnership with Entat who was the perfect foil for him. As others have said, orchestrated a magical afternoon at Old Trafford.

One of the most iconic photos in Hull's history, I would say. It may not have been a Challenge Cup or a Champonship but it was a great victory against the odds and a wonderful occasion.

Greg had an impressive record for Hull. Made his debut in October 1989, missed the next game but was then an ever present until he left the club at the end of the 1991-92 season, 94 successive matches.

Thoughts are with him and his family at such a difficult time.

Fc fans. Got a picture of me and him at an end of seasons awards night when east hull was mysons. Top bloke.

1991 Cup Final was great, remember it like it was yesterday. Greg lived a few doors down from my mate in Welton. Was a great bloke.

Presume he played for Wire after Hull?

We signed him from them and after his spell at Hull he went back there.
