hes a poor organiser, poor kicker, he dosen't know hot to impose himself... hes just exactly how he was last season..he should be kicking on, but honestly just from the training ground he isnt.

I've seen him impose himself and organise on the pitch. He's a decent half back he needs a good 6 with him and protection in defence.

If hes not going to play pay him off.

I would play him so fans can see how he really is..but then is that good for the team? If his contribution is dire! When you watch a player running around a pitch 100 mile an hour but getting nowt done shows you they're enthusiasm is there but nothing to back it up!

I think your painting a very unfair picture of Miller tbh. If he's running around at 100 mile an hour at least his efforts there.

He gets involved and takes the line on, he's got good ability but is isolated a lot of the time. If Radford won't play him pay him off, he's gonna get the money anyway.

I'm not painting any picture bud..if he's good enough he would be playing I'm sure any coach who's team are playing with no confidence /recognised pivots would play him...but why isn't he getting a shot at it??

At a guess one of two things could be happening.

Radford believes that we've got a couple of tries in us without him and is trying to keep us better defensively.

Or

He doesn't want his wages to count on the cap and is trying to force him out of the club without paying him off.

I'd personally go with option two.

I say give Miller a chance at least, he surely cant be any worse than the halfbacks on sunday. They tried Azza at scrum half last season and it never worked then. Its not rocket science to know that he is a out and out hooker, but yet Radders insists on playing him out of position again. We have been crying out for decent halfbacks for years and it seems we never learn, we keep playing the same old dross there.

Your suggestion (both here and elsewhere) that a coach not picking a player is some sort of incontrovertible proof of a player's worth/ability is one of the biggest loads of nonsense I've ever read/heard, which is some going as a regular reader of these boards. Firstly, if we are to accept that a coach always gets everything right, websites like this would have little point in existing, and no head coach would ever be sacked, as clearly they couldn't possibly have made any mistakes. Secondly, for this particular situation the coach doesn't even really have a track record worthy of bestowing such blind faith at this stage. The fact that Radford isn't picking Miller is no stronger evidence that he isn't good enough than Gentle picking him every game was of the opposite. If it was someone like Wayne Bennett you might have a point, but it's an unproven coach appointed by an unproven (and arguably questionable so far) owner.

Opinions vary, but the fact that one person's holds more influence doesn't always mean it holds more validity.

Anyone who remembers watching Ben Crooks in the 19's shouldn't be using it as a stick to beat Miller with.

I could understand if we had 2 good HBs creating loads of chances and tackling anything that moves but as we don't the arguments for not picking Miller are thin at best.

Deserves his chance but has to perform at SL level. As some of his rivals for the position didn't do so yesterday so he deserves a go like they have had. If he gets his chance then it will be up to him to take it. It's not a level where a player can be carried - particularly in a pivotal position.

Agree with that. As others have said, you don't get a half back to be a defender, so I don't understand why he doesn't get put in, with support in the area he defends in. Dobson wasn't the best defender either, nor Sean Long.

However, I can see, if he does get picked and it goes tits up (i.e. he doesn't create at least six tries and score 3 himself, or one pass goes to ground) that the knives will be out on here and elsewhere. The kid can't win.

Well the kid could win if he takes his chance and performs well. We're so desperate for someone to fill this role with flair that he could win big time.

If Miller comes in runs around like a headless chicken and it doesn't work at least Aaron will be back at 9 keeping acting half nice and sharp so we'll still be up on the deal! Cos that's all Aaron is doing currently whilst at 7 and hooking position is suffering because of it!!

If it is down to the salary cap, assuming he's not deemed good enough, then playing him would almost certainly kill our chances of getting any more players this season.

Carvell won't have been cheap, and I reckon that our live Salary Cap Status will probably be something like "play player1 or player7 and you will exceed the cap".

I'm sure AP won't be happy paying off any players because it's (his) money down the drain.

Maybe when Bradford are sorted things might happen - they're short of players and it's not as if there are too many to go round.
