Hull FC coach Lee Radford has called new signing Chris Tuson and prop forward Liam Watts into his squad for Friday’s clash with Bradford Bulls at the KC Stadium.
Former Wigan Warriors forward Tuson joined the Black and Whites in the off season and could make his debut for the club this week after missing the opening three rounds of Super League XIX with a neck injury.
Watts is also on course to return to the side after damaging knee ligaments in the pre-season friendly against Featherstone, with Joe Arundel and Jay Pitts the players to make way in Hull’s 19-man squad.
However, Garreth Carvell is not risked as he continues his recovery from an ankle injury although he is expected to feature against Castleford Tigers next week.

Starting 13 probably: Shaul, Talanoa, Yeamo, Crooks, Lineham, Rankin/Miller, Horne, Whiting, Ellis, Paea, Bowden, Houghton, Westerman.
Subs: Watts, Paleaaesina, Tuson/Thompson, Heremeia.
Still not sure why Radders has been subbing Rankin but if he's not happy with something then I say give Miller a shot and let him stake a claim for the shirt. Keen to see Tuson in action but as has been said elsewhere is he match fit yet? Bench at best for me and probably in Thompson's place... not that Thompson's done anything wrong.

I agree on Shaul. He's obviously got alot of pace but im not sure he's got the skills to come in behind the 2nd row and make the right choice as alot of the time he doesnt.

That's all we can ask for. Even if we don't end up agreeing with the selection.

I'd go with that. I've liked the look of Thompson so far but he's not really a prop and in the second row Ellis is captain, Tuson needs a game and Whiting is superman.

| Would be interesting to see how 1.Rankin 6.Horne 7.Miller 9. Heremaia/Houghton 13. Westerman would go together. Alot of our play in the red zone comes to a halt when Shaul gets the ball.

As said still a good side, despite people leaving and injuries, if you can keep this side plus get Gaskell, Blyth and Ferguson back in, I think you have a chance of avoiding relegation.
I still our pack still has too much for this team, especially when you compare the benches.

| I think we should start with Houghton and bring on azza later. For me, azza is an impact player, you get the best out of him when teams are tiring, as we have seen in many weeks. we start him and he goes off the boil again.

I'd like to wish him all the luck in the world for Hull FC. Not many Wigan fans were happy to see him go and I'm pretty sure Shaun Wane wanted to keep him. When fit, he was nearly always in the 17 but mostly on the bench. With the likes of Hansen, Hock and Farrell usually ahead of him in the SR he didn't often start. His best position is probably LF but obviously he wasn't going to unseat O'Loughlin.
He isn't a flashy player. He does the tough stuff well, doesn't miss tackles and gets the odd match winning try because he reads the game well.

| I think we ought to start with azza, then if Rankin should be below par, azza can then take over after a bit of a breather.

I take your point and I wouldn't be surprised to see Rankin stay in, hopefully instead of Heremaia in the halves, but don't we want a halfback who can produce in the tough games? He was just anonymous a lot of the time in those games, even when we were on the front foot, then when he did get involved it wasn't very good.
As somebody else mentioned, I'd like to see him at FB with Horne/Miller in the halves.

No guarantee that Miller can produce. I thought he was good last year but not outstanding. That could be more to with being hindered by playing alongside Holdsworth though who I was ultimately very disappointed with. I'd like to see what Miller can do alongside Horne with Radders instructions though if there is going to be a change in the halves. Heremeia works best at hooker for me.

Absolutely, and you could argue that given the games coming up that it would be easier for Miller to make an impact. I just like how busy Miller is, he's involved in every play at first receiver. He also has the skill set to be an exceptional SH and gives us another dimension IMO. Rankin's try against Catalan was an excellent FB's try, that's where I think he's best.
