Agreed - Thompson in particular had showed next to nothing in the friendlies but what a try that was. Feka signing was slagged by some on here without recourse to the facts. Too early to judge all of the signings yet but two points in the bag. Defence needs shoring up across the board.

Early days, of course, but Feka, Rankin, Talanoa and Thompson can be pretty happy with their debuts (never had any worries about Paea).

Rankin was actually better than I thought watching it back! Brilliant cut out ball for yeaman try some good testing kicks, good try and got busier as game went on
biggest plus was our pack dominating them for large portion of the game. Especially when you think when all fit green Pitts watts and particularly tuson can be added it's a really good pack!
We've suddenly become a big team when you look at us! Even talonoa and rankin have size. Have a nice balance about us i think. Some speed power and skill in the team

I was amazed just how trim Feka is, to the extent he could probably do with an addition half stone on him. Reminded me of a young Jamie Thackray when he was running the ball in

Although we gave away a lot of penalties I thought our work in the tackle was much improved. Plenty of effort to dominate the attacker and put him on his back

Rankin is what a stand off is all about...speed,takes on the line and has a superb cut out pass.....he put out a few lovely passes last night....did more with with ball in hand than Holdsworth did last season.Also thought Yeaman looked a lot sharper as well

The biggest surprise to me was the score expected a boring low scoring game due to the conditions and got 15 tries and standee there's no seats in the sold out free stand

Agreed. Thaler was trying to blow the pea out of his whistle for the most of the match. He must like been on the telly.

If this game had been round ten and not round one, there would have been far fewer penalties. Referees do this every season, come out with a directive to clamp down on some thing. It will calm down.
