This means we go the best part of 2 months without a home game.

8 of our first 12 matches will now be at home so we need to build up some momentum quickly before the long run of away games.

why don't they do repairs in august ,let the the tedious tigers shift matches.

Not sticking up for football as I don't like the sport but summer is the best time for the new turf to grow.

It also means that between 23 March - 9 May, there will be 7 SL games, 6 of which are at home. If we get a home tie sin the cup (weekends of 5th April and 26th April), that will be 8 home games out of 9.

This will have an impact on fans being able to afford so many games in the bounce IMO.

Hope fc are getting compensation from the smc for loss of revenue between the two months without a home game, three home games on the bounce will stretch many pockets and people will miss games ther probably would have been able to go too

September is a good growing month,citys clods are causing the damage,let them pay the price.

The pitch was relaid in 2013. Since the then 3 games of RL have been played on it, 2 Hull games and a RLWC game.

We are not allowed to train on it.

Now the pitch is beyond repair.

On the up side it's £1 million that Hull FC don't have to fund. It is one advantage of renting rather than owning. Wigan do this pitch repair every year and their fixtures are scheduled to allow for it.

What I find a little strange is that if Wigan can plan it why didn't Hull?

It stinks. Why is it that it's always our club that has to suffer with change of fixtures and dates?. Then no doubt sky will be messing the fixtures up and people wont know if they are coming or going. I really don't know why we bother with a fixture list, they are not worth the paper they are written on. Its all there to see, Hull Tigers have knackered the pitch up. They should of done the repairs in September instead of messing our fixtures up before the season has even started.

I understand from reading the story its not just a case of wear and tear on the pitch but also a problem with the undersoil heating which needs repairing. Maybe this leak and the problems it has caused are the reason why the work could not have been planned further in advance?

The pitch is certainly going to get a lot of hammer between the start of the rugby season and the end of the football season with all these home matches.

All of this could be solved with a move to Melton, IMO

It's not the regular re lay. It's a total overhaul. Right down to under soil heating etc. Needs doing. Summer is prime time to do it. We play during the summer. We've rearranged 2 games. Not the end of the world, not ideal but it's for our benefit also. City play considerably more games than us so even if it came to a choice between us or them it would still make more sense to do it during our season. But as said it's a summer job.
It's had a big consultation with independent people. There's no conspiracy here, we play in a stadium with state of the art facilities, they need up keep!

Correct it's a summer job.

But during the summer Tigers don't play considerably more games than us therefore it would have been easier for them to move.

However, IF we have been suitably compensated then don't have a problem with it.

Probably mean i won't to get as many games as usual but that is the consequence of not buying a pass.

It's a lot easier for us to get to games on a Sunday than a Friday so assuming the rearranged fixtures stay the way they are the club will get £100 from me. More if it's sunny and we need extra refreshments.

lets not be naïve about this its planned so it doesn't affect city in any way.not early may when they are still playing,not late july august when they may be playing pre season friendlies.if city were playing in a summer and hull started their season in august it would be a late august September repair.

Much as I understand that he isn't Mr Popular and this is a messing about, can you imagine the headline if he did hand the SMC over to the council?

'City council to pay £1m for new pitch at the home of Hull FC'.
Or
'City's biggest and best RL club to allow council to invest in 'grassroots development'', more likely in the HDM, but even so.

You're better off with a private company covering these costs, even if you have to jump through a couple of extra hoops.
