Oh Dear nothing we didn't expect but it looks like they will be looking for another RL bail out to me, its hard anyway without this, to understand how they can manage with hardly any players.

| It is sad to see a SL club up the creek.... but what is the point in them fulfilling the 2014 season with no players no ground tbf no fans. The RFL should use this next season to let a team each week have the weekly round off as they do in the NRL. Also give the team the 2 points what would have been on offer the squad would get a break twice in the weekly rounds. Its going to be there last season anyway even if the RFL pump them with cash to keep them afloat. Pretty pointless if they do that the money could go to another area maybe swinton or youth rugby.

| Many people up north consider London to be a waste of money, but having had dealings with the club (when they were Harlequins), I always found them very accommodating towards other grass-root development clubs, and I know they have put an immense amount of work in laying the foundations for rugby league in the London area. Sadly, it finally looks like they have run out of steam at SL level.

I think its more likely we'll play a team twice at home, the clubs won't want to lose a home fixture. Especially us who play them on Easter Monday where we'd expect to see a bigger than usual gate.
as for London, about time they went, they've been a joke ever since they became Harlequins and the already small fan-base has dwindled. The RFL would be better spending money on helping clubs down South develop organically. Crusaders for example seem to be doing better living within their means in Championship1 than they did in SL, and have built a solid fan-base in Wrexham. Fans would rather see a winning team in a lower league than a struggling SL side being hammered every week.

Although that won't happen because of the magic weekend. Everyone would play London twice but one team plays them a third time in Manchester. you could have a team from the championship take their place and then the championship teams get 2 weeks off.

| Time to draw a line under this "experiment" once and for all.
There's been far too much money wasted on them. If they are to restart, do it with grass-roots, not tired old Aussies and huge earners. Lets face it, they've had to exist on away support which, more often than not, outnumbers the home fans.
A Cumbrian team deserves a chance now.

| Obvious this was going to happen, should have been resolved at end of last season which could of allowed time for a Championship club to step in. Featherstone have been vocal that they were prepared to replace London if this scenario happened, but not sure how it would work with Fev or any other club, would they be prepared to step in when in all likelihood they would face immediate relegation?
Don't suppose the clubs will be too bothered as they will get a bigger slice of the Sky money, but for fans this would devalue the season pass if we lose a home game.
13 teams works in SL with a by for each club on their home and away fixtures but it cocks up Magic W/End which can't work with 13 teams

Well you just give Catalans no fixture for magic weekend they dont hardly have any away fans anyway and just have 3 games each day. London waited for there fixtures to be given before going into administration it was always on the cards its a farce really. imho

Then Catalans miss the chance for 2 points which will be needed at the seasons end.

Yes because the Cumbrian clubs are so well managed and get such fantastic support.
There seems to be more support for a Cumbrian club in Superleague from uoutside of Cumbria than actually attend matches in Cumbria. Whitehaven was hardly a roaring success when they were in the top flight and things seem to have gone downhill since then

Very difficult to tell what the owners motives are, maybe they’ve looked at the Bradford precedent and seen a method to wipe out a debt and get some cash in from an RFL pot that no one seems to know exists or not.
There is a huge difference between Bradfords position and Londons though, Bradford have a pretty good fan base and a ground to play in (or one the RFL could buy for them). So a new owner coming in would have the benefit of a potential income stream even if it was precarious.
London on the other hand have no ground, very few fans (think it was down to low 1000 or something at times last year, and seemingly little vision for how to rectify this situation.
So realistically unless the current owner can be persuaded into ‘investing’ a huge year on year amount then the future looks pretty much dead.
I know it’s an experiment that has been often derided but yet again it can only be a bad thing for the game as a whole and on the back of a world cup and drive for spreading the word I wonder what the RFL can do to reverse the slide, major rethink at top level is needed and I would think quickly

Sorry if that was confusing but another RL bail out was not referring to London's past but rather what has happened at Bradford and what appears to have happened at Wakefield.

Any intelligence that you may claim to have is lost with this statement. For some of you it all boils down to away fans, which is pathetic.
As for London, I can see a case that will see them still around next season all be it as Skolars and not Broncos. People forget that there is a sound club in London. They have a base and conections in The City which is essential. They might not be ready at the moment, but neither is any championship club. But all the good work that has gone on unnoticed by the flat cappers in the north, in the SE will be totally undone without a SL presence in London. Add in any feel good factor generated from the WC and we have to keep moving forward with a club in London.
They need to be based in a town within the M25 (Yes there are towns inside the M25 its not all just London) where they can get a community based team and club going. Similar to what our cousins in the east have done to good effect.
Sadly though they won't have many fans who are willing to travel to the city of culture on a Friday night so they will be forever deemed not worthy.

We were bailed out ourselves not too long ago too. Like us back then, London have been grossly mismanaged over the past few seasons, since Leneghan left them.
As a sport, we have to get away from the 'they have no fans, let's cut them off' mentality, and help one of our own if we can. What would we have done if the RFL did that to us back in 1999? We were languishing in the bottom 2 for a couple of seasons, didn't have great attendances, bad stadium etc. Who would've missed us?
The amateur game and participation in schools has never been higher in London, and a lot of that is down to the London club. Without a SL club there, we are effectively cutting off a large proportion of our talent pool over the coming years by removing that 'pathway' for players to become pro. Players like McCarthy-Scarsbrook, Clubb, Sarginson & Dixon would have effectively been lost.
If they have to be 'bailed out' by the RFL, so be it. But, it should be done on certain conditions, making sure they don't just give money to the failed management to flitter away.
