I wouldn't say that as it probably isn't true, especially as we've reportedly spent the cap.

The payment, if we made one, wouldn't count on next years cap because he didn't play a game.

i have done a 5 minute read up and contracts run till Nov 1st so if you paid him now it would count on cap ? Now if you pay him after that it doesnt count on the salary cap for next year ? That leaves the salary cap open to abuse doesnt it sign someone for 3 years agree in principle to let them leave after 2 at the end of season big pay off that counts on neither years salary cap so you have paid him 50 percent more for each of the 2 years with no chance of a penalty for cap breaching. Oh well Marwan clearly will have a field day with that one

It does leave it to abuse yes, in theory you could back end someones contract and then in the last year, when you know he was never going to play, you can pay him off.

I'm not sure if SL has a salary cap adjudicator like the NRL but every contract has to be approved to make sure everything fair.

Not surprised he has gone, but you couldnt question his attitude or work rate. Just didnt have the impact with or without the ball to be a top prop

One of the few players who did give 100% every time he played. He did however get dominated by the defence in nearly every run he made and seemed to have no ability to make any hard yards in the collision. There are a few more players before him that I would have looked to release early from their contracts though.

Agreed. Quite a shame that it's someone like him being cut loose when he seems to have one of the best attitudes at the club.

Agree to both of the above, can't fault his effort but just wasn't good enough to make the required impact as a forward and was rarely in the 17.

Goes to show we are still suffering from over inflated deals for average players.
At least AP is not standing for mediocrity and is determined to bring success even if it means he has bin players to achieve the goals set.

Good luck Paul, always gave 100% but a Gentle signing and falling under the "average" tag, not too surprised to see him being shipped out, a good squad player with a good work ethic, sounds like he's got a gig at Widnes, so we move on and hopefully we see a bigger, meaner prop coming in

I have being a massive critic of his signing (along with a couple of other signings) since day one and I still cannot fathom who signed him or why. He was never going to be what we needed in our pack.

However, his effort and determination could never be questioned and it is a real shame that he doesn't have the size or strength to go with it.

So, who else do we think is out of the door, or never going to actually come through it?

Pitts and McDonnell sound like they're "at risk". I've been told that McRae gave out some stupid contracts and those two have a couple of them (Green also apparently given much more than market value).
