Particularly impressive as he's been spelled more by heremaia this year. Only 32 misses meaning he has a tackle success rate of 97%. Great effort

A little harsh maybe. We could also say that if James Roby's work rate and tackling were of a higher standard he would be an England cert......oh hang on.

All depends what the coach wants from his hooker really. A defensive, more tackling orientated machine or another cog in the teams offensive armoury.......

with heremaia out next game he will play the full 80 so will get ample opportunity to add to his tally, even though he's probably topped the tackle league already

According to the Super League website, Dallas Johnson got 1106 in 2010. Only goes back to 2003 though......

Only 4 other blokes got over 1000 in a season and Danny Houghton has now done it twice!

Well if he carries on at his current average of 41 a game, he'd finish on 1107 at the end of the league season.

According to the ultra reliable wikipedia, Richard Swain was the 1st to go past the magic 1000 tackles in a season mark in the NRL. It also says he topped the 2004 super league charts with 907. So I am guessing that was his top effort.

When Fitz was here he mentioned that it is their tactic to hold the defender up and Houghton to finish it by taking the legs. He does a lot of work in this area, not always first man in
