AP's programme notes:
One person who took our defeat to Hull KR harder than anyone apparently seemed to be Gary Schofield. He took to the air on national radio and once again hammered everything about Hull FC in what can only be described as a vitriolic rant against the club and its personnel, on and off the field.
I remember Gary as a very fine player, but it seems he doesn’t have that stature of person now he has retired. He comes across a very bitter person, particularly in relation to all things Hull FC.
I think it’s time he moved on from whatever he thinks the club have done to him in the past and focus on his own future. It’s hard enough being a player or coach without constant over-the-top barbs from a very talented but bitter ex-pro.

Pearson shouldn't be giving him the oxygen of publicity, Schofield says something controversial every few months, every season, just to get a few quid off the papers.

Not sre what he said on TalkSport but in last week's League Express he said that it was time for Gentle and McRae to go, that the club was going backwards at an alarming rate and that the players aren't happy with Gentle's game plan. He also labelled the derby display as a disgrace and an embarrassment.

i sat in the johnny whiteley suite at the cas game and when down prinny ave with him top bloke, schoey speaks his mind he told us fc sold him he didnt want to leave.

So what bit did he get wrong?

He might speak his mind but he talks and he as stuck two fingers upto HUll Fc every since he went to Leeds following the money.

What a load of tosh, he was desperate to go to Leeds and engineered a move there. Just goes to show what a lying toerag he is.

Bit hasty on Gentle and club going backwards, too early to judge. Spot on about the derby performance.

Thing is pal, it's his style of how he said it. He doesn't present any evidence for his claims and deliberately puts his views across in a provocative manner to try and stir it up.

Anyone who thinks that we've gone backwards since the days of Agar, Rule and Kath is probably a bit backwards themselves.

You must be getting Schofield confused with Lee Crooks. Easy enough mistake to make I suppose

I am still excited about the future, I can see a team of young homegrown players if the progress continues as it has this season for the next few years.

The big thing Mr Pearson promised was big investment in the youth system and Mr Gentle promised to give them a chance when injuries happenned, we have now had 3 players this seaosn coming in that didnt look out of place, one in fact that as made is position his own in Lineham.

That alone is so far ahead of where we were.

We all know he dislikes us and always tries to be controversial in everything he does. You are right about the going backwards part, like I said it's too early to judge Gentle but the club has moved forward in lots of areas under AP.

The derby part I agree with him on as does Gentle who said yesterday it was his darkes hour as FC coach.

WEll I'm affraid he has a selective memeory or thousands of us who were around then have had ours whiped!!!

Both He and Crooks left around the same time Crooks Kicking and screaming and openly decrying his move to Leeds and Schofield engineering his move out. On the day Crooks left the Mail quoted him as saying " I never thought this would happen it is the only way the Club can be saved, I've been forced to leave the Club I love"

The very next day the headline on the Front of the Mail read " Schofield Asks for a move" which quoted Schoey as saying that Hull was no longer a good Club for him to play at and he didn't want to play for us again. So, the legend of Judas was born, 'pieces of silver' were thrown on the pitch every time he returned and the THreepennies really got at him! He's been bitter ever since and never misses a chance to have a pop.!

I got the chance to ask Schofield about why he left and he was quite happy to have a good rant about it. So his side of event's goes something like this.

He was in contract talks with Hull. He wanted 15k a season Hull said "we're skint best offer we can do is 10k he shook hands and said fair enough get things sorted and i'll sign. In the meantime he found out Hull had signed another player (Sott Gale I think but could be wrong cause I was a bit pi$$ed too) on 20k a season. So he thought lying barstewards and told them to shove it.

That is a watered down version I got straight from the horses mouth. I'm sure Hull Fc have their version of events too.

Agree with him about the derby display but as for the rest... at times I have wondered whether the players aren't happy with Gentle's game plan but I'd say recent results suggest it's been more of a confidence issue. We're certainly in a far better position as a club than we were two years ago under the old regime and the time to assess our position under this regime is at the end of this season. Far too early for Schofield to be declaring the club is going backwards.
