How sad it was today to hear of the death of one of the greatest forwards ever seen in the famous Black and White Hoops.

Part of the famous Panzer Pack of the 1950's Bill Drake passed away yesterday just 4 years to the day after his twin brother Jim died. Bill was a prodigious talent and a rangy, mobile, ball handling second row forward who made 293 appearances for the Club scoring 101 tries and kicking 53 goals. His appearance to display his medals and those of his brother at the 2011 Heritage day was a highlight of the event and his memory will live on in the history of the Club!


I am sure the thoughts of all Fc fans are with the family and RIP Bill Drake

I was too young to have ever seen him play but almost feel like I did get to see him play after all the great stories my Grandad has told us over the years of the twins playing ability and general toughness.

Again I'm too young to have ever seen him play, but I've heard some great things about both twins. It's very sad to hear of the loss of another Hull Legend.

Never saw him play but my dad told some storys about the Drake twins.Another Legend gone to join the Legends in the sky where they will be waiting for him with a black and white shirt and the next time it thunders,it will be Drake twins back in unison.

A great forward and a pleasure to watch A really intimadating figure and one not to be messed with. I have many memories of Bill ,one of which doesnt detract from being a class second row He had a penchant for using his "head" and he was very good at it .I remember a winger maknig quite a few in roads .So Bill who was bloody quick positioned himself alongside and leveled him with a glancing nut and very few noticed what had happened .Problem solved RIP in peace Bill

Very sad news. His playing career was long before my time but most of us will know what a big part he played in the club's history.

R.I.P. I had the pleasure of seeing him play. Those that have not seen him play missed someone special. He was a fine forward @ a time when this country had a fair number of quality players. He was one of the best around @ that time. Big,hard & strong, skillful & was one of the few forwards who used his 'brain'. He was also quick [having being a back when started out & had a good side step & knew how & when to 'dummy'. He was part of a 'special pack'. Now gone but not forgotten.

Never had a conversation about the older players without the Drakes being mentioned
