He's been playing in our Under 20's and has been getting good reviews. Pleased that he's getting a chance to player in a better standard of competition. He's originally from Cumbria, too. Newton is a competent loose forward, but since making the step up to the Millom first-team he has also plied his trade at hooker. Good young player, very similar to a Shaun Lunt/Matt Diskin type hooker

Wonder if this is with a view to getting him primed to replace Heremaia when he goes home at the end of his contract.

Yes , and I coached him for a few years when he was a young kid

I loved him as a player , even when he was 7 !! heart of a lion

Though so, have heard very good things about him.

Just to get tips of his old man will really help as he was an outstanding hooker.

As someone has put previously three very good hookers in the youth teams, hopefully at least one will make it ready when Heremia contract is up in 2 years time.

As for Newton I think he is a better 13 than a hooker in all honesty as he is pretty much a stand and pass type hooker as doesn't have much speed off the mark, his defence is excellent though.
