Part of me wants him to go over to the NRL and take his game to the next level for his benefit and the benefit of the National side but then the rest of me thinks sod that do everything we can to convince him to stay.

I don't know what else he'd learn as a winger within the NRL as to SL . If Hull were to offer him a very good long term deal then that must be financially better than what he'd make in Aus regardless of the exchange rate.

Spot on. Let him know how much we appreciate him. People talk about offering extensions to Whiting, Sharp and many others (I have no problem with this btw). However this lad is our one truely world class player, he can create something out of nothing as shown last night. He is an immense talent and I would like to see him wearing the B&W for many years to come.

This might sound a bit odd, but I don't think that would work, a long term deal. Briscoe clearly has ambitions to go to the NRL, can't argue with that. Hull appear to be back on the up. I'd offer him 3 years and say to him that he is welcome to leave after two years IF we have not reached a final in that period of time.

If we do get to a final (and win it ) that's then when you try and get him on another extended deal when we are on the crest of a wave.

This is how I've seen it too. I've kind of accepted that he will be going, but how I would love him to stay!

He truly is world class and it's often a privilege to watch him play.

No part of me wants him to go to Aus but I suspect he might. Can't we sign him for 5 years and then do a 2 year loan swap with an Aussie club and get a top player from said club in return ? That would be a way of guaranteeing his return to us. Cloud cuckoo land I know but I don't like seeing international players leaving the club.

We need some way of retaining him if we can.

I like your suggestion for a number of reasons. But I would like to add a proviso to his contract though, an iron-clad one (which is probably illegal), in that he can leave after two years to the NRL if on his return to the ESL it is to FC.

Briscoe needs incentivising to stay at Hull if NRL clubs are genuinely sniffing. Tying him down long term may not do that. Give him the carrot of success with the team for a get out to Australia if trophies don't start to appear. Either way his will try his heart out.

Even with another two seasons beyond his current deal, he will only be about 25/26 years old.

Personally I'd like to see a good, talkative centre next to him to help develop his game.

That second try he scored last night was 1 that no other winger in the league would have scored.

Briscoe's game would go up a notch again if he had a centre inside of him who can put him away like Turner and Crooks have done the last couple of games. Yeamo to the right for me!

Could see the difference is his running the ball back, had the thought to myself that we hadnt had a Briscoe special break for a long time and the signs were there for it to happen.

That's how it appeared to me as well. He has been trying hard enough in the previous games but was obviously struggling at times, getting back slowly and looking a bit short on pace. The rest from the week off looks to have done him a world of good so hopefully its back to his brilliant best for the rest of the season.
