I know it's probably the usual pre-season stuff, but Ellis seems to believe in himself, if he does push Horne aside (Horne, who has had yet another operation) then it can only be good for FC and the future.

Well he as the kicking game we have really missed and one thing for sure the real competetion for places in the halfbacks can only be a good thing.

I still expect Seymour to start but I suspect with Richard being injured, Ellis has a really good chance of staking his claim to a spot but we all know that once Richard is back training he wont let anyone down.

I hope he does well. Lots of ability and very confident in his own ability

With Gentle saying we chop and changed to much Danny Nicklas may be the one covering Horne, all depends on the system Gentle plays in the halfs.

What I am glad about is when Horne or Seymour have a knock we don't have to risk them.

Alternatively he'll have an injury free season, gel with his new scrum half, and see out his contract until the end of the 2013 season.

It's all about opinions.

You're judging Horne based on him playing a role he's not suited to. Because we've lacked a scrum half for so many years, he's had to play there by default as we've had little option. If he gets a run at 6 this year alongside a proper scrum half, that will be the time to assess whether or not he can still cut it at the top level.

As an aside, how would you feel if you were doing something at work that was outside of your area of expertise to help the team out, and people just kept saying how rubbish you were at it? Would that be fair on you, do you think?

Personally id like to Ellis do well but i reckon he wont finish the season with us and will end up somehwere else to get game time as Horne and Seymour will be starting halfs unless injury occurs.

Explain why it's stupid. That's exactly the situation with Horne. And I have no sentiment towards him. I'd feel the same if any player was being harshly judged by people who clearly have little knowledge of the game.
