| Hull FC have confirmed that they will be back within the city boundaries for first-team and academy training ahead of the new Super League season at [url=http://www.hullfc.com/newsarticle.aspx?n=19349Hull YPI Sports Centre[/url.
Haven't got a clue what it's like here, is it any better then Brantingham or not?

| Seems strange as pearson originally intimated that the club were looking to develop their own facility and now we're renting 2. Still seem better facilities than the previous ones but I'd like us to still build our own somewhere

| Doesn't James Rule play for Hull RUFC in some capacity? Is there a possible link there?

| No, James Rule played for Hull Ionians (Brantingham Park), though he is an Old Hymerian as are many of the hierarchy at Hull RUFC. Facilities are much better at Brantingham Park but there is great potential with some investment at Chanterlands Avenue. The Old YPI building is in some disrepair and needs renovating.
It is embarrassing for a pro-outfit like FC not to have their own facility but being forced to rent from semi-pro Union sides. I am sure Pearson must be addressing this.
Is the Chants venue for first team or for the youth sides? Obviously it would be far more accessible to Hull residents than goign out to Brantingham.

| Strange one this, would be ok till we sorted our own place out but there is no mention of this on the statement.
Didn't AP say we would be building our own facilities next to the Sirius site?

I think thats still on but mainly for Juniors, with it said the firts team using it occassionally this arrangement at Chants was almost a done deal a while ago when there was a big investment and upgrade in the YPI facilities, but the old Board pulled out. The pitches are good and I think there is an all weather area there, I wonder if Under 20 games will relocate there which will really help a lot of folks who can't get to Brantingham. I would expect Hull to be investing a lot in the upgrading of the indooor facilities though. Certainly changing times. We'll have to see.

It says in the article
Quote
The venue will be a first-team base for full-time training activities for the players and coaches, including video analysis, team preparations, treatment and rehabilitation.
It will also host Hull FC’s Valvoline Cup (U20’s) and Valvoline Academy (U18’s) fixtures, as well as matches for the U16’s and U15’s where fixtures permit.'"
Will be a good move. I don't drive and have no way of getting to Brantingham but I'd certainly be going to a number of u20 games at YPI.
Great to have the club's training facilities based in Hull again.

| Sorry, hadn't read the article. It paints a very rosy picture of YPI:
"The state of the art facilities, which include three full size pitches maintained by a full-time groundsman, a large gymnasium, a sports hall, team meeting rooms, a recreational area and coaches offices"
The facilities as they stand are nowhere near world class, I can only think that either Hull FC or Hull RUFC are goign to make considerable renovations to bring them up to the standard required for a pro-team.
At present the gym is the size of one and a half squash courts with some dilapidated equipment, the sports hall is leased to an indoor golf centre, so unusable. The team meeting rooms are also very spartan, as are the offices and recreational area. I also think that a Hull KR player runs an onsite training business from a private gym at the centre too. As for the three pitches, I would think only one is of the required standard for Hull FC to train on, and why the Union club would agree to have their prize assest damaged and overused is beyond me.
There must be renovations aplenty being undertaken.

sorry hadn't read it all it also answers the Sirius Question too! Great move getting under 20 games back in the City! As has been said though needs big investment I would think we must be pouring a deal of dosh into it! Has to be good to get the training back in the City.

| Another strange one for me. I've been to YPI plenty of times over the years and it is a very dated and tired building. It's a bit like an old Council building. The rugby pitch is superb, that looks like the only aspect that has seen recent investment. I think the guy who owns Beals Homes has something to do with the place and the two Latus Brother's own/lease the gym.

I didn't know that about land up for sale but we will need some permanent accomodation for offices etc, we'll have to wait and see as I said before though it will need some investment!

YPI is a good facility, had a lot of investment over the last few years, new changing rooms opened last year, and the pitch is perfect!
The Latus brothers do have a gym there, but there's is a specialist gym, there is also another one which I suspect is there we'll be using, although it needs a few quid spent on it.
And yeah, The Beal's are big investors in Hull RUFC.

| We need training facilities now. It can take a while (even for Man city and their billions) to get things planned and built correctly. I know Tevita was the head man DOR at Hull RUFC last year does anyone know if this is still the case? As said the main pitch is quality and it has catering / bar facilities for fans / players. the location is perfect for fans to get to right next to the dead centre of Hull.

| As for the location I'm happy as it's less than a mile away from me. Needs some work on it though as people have said. With a regular attendance from the fans/players etc it will bring in more revenue than it is now to help with that.

| Brilliant news that it's back in Hull, and only 5 mins away from me so I can make a lot more games.
The pitches on YPI are good, the main pitch was reinvested in not so long back IIRC, underground heating etc?
The main building may needs some money to it but it is a positive move.

| No underground heating. Tevita has not been there this season, now works at a private school in Oxfordshire. The pitch was created at great cost to the Union club; any money over the bar or catering would go to YPI, not the union club or FC. The new changing rooms are great, but not in the same league as the Brantingham facility.
There are all weather tennis courts but I doubt these could be used for rugby training as they are hard courts not 3G and are leased exclusively to the Tennis Club. Surely a 3G pitch would be a priority.
Is there any idea of how much FC are paying for the privilege of using YPI?

| Is there a great facility in the city at this current time? Location is great for most especially the young players and we never took any money from the bars at Brantingham anyway so lets see how this goes.

| I wish people would stop moaning. Rome wasn't built in a day. AP has said he will invest a lot of money to give us the best training facilities, give him a chance. He cant just magic a location with top quality facilities it will take a bit of time. If people don't like it they can always go and follow the Dobbins, with their world class coach, squad and facilities
